2018 release. Legendary King's X front-man Dug Pinnick will release Tribute to Jimi (Often Imitated but Never Duplicated) a special limited print tribute album to the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix. Tribute to Jimi was recorded at Blacksound Studios, Pasadena, CA and was co-produced by Dug Pinnick and Michael Parnin and mastered by Kurdt Vanderhoof of Metal Church. About the release Dug states, "I've been wanting to do this for a long time, so when the idea was brought up to me, I couldn't wait to get started! We wanted to recreate the analog recording process as closely to the original recordings as possible, so we did our research and tried to use as many of the original effects and equipment that we could find. I'm very happy with how this turned out and I hope everyone enjoys listening to this music as much as I enjoyed recording it in memory of Jimi Hendrix!"

How a tribute should be done
This is a pretty amazing tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Dug Pinnick's voice sounds similar to Hendrix to begin and the band did an amazing job with the arrangements and sound. I wanted to hear more songs but the 8 songs on this CD pack a punch and do not stray far from what Jimi Hendrix originally created.

Jimi Would Approve this Message
Incredible release from dUg Pinnick! The painstaking efforts to recreate the majik of the original Hendrix tracks combined with dUg's soulful vocal stylings yields a set works with stunning integrity. The songs are re-imagined with spine tingling audio mojo that I'm sure has Jimi smiling from ear to ear from on high. Hoping dUg and team win a Grammy for this one.

Hendrix- Tribut vom King's X- Frontmann

amazingly authentic Jimi Hendrix sound!!
I am very impressed by the overall recording 'sound'... it actually sounds like Jimi Hendrix's recordings from the late 60's...very well performed by all on the album...my only disappointment is that there's only 8 songs!! Go for another four Dug!!
