Good
Pro: * safe...the case sets against your head between the hot barrel to prevent burns * gives a nice sausage/barrel curl * heats up super fast * has a long cord so you can easily position yourself to see what you are doing * easy to use with just a minimal learning curve * price is ok Con: I really dislike the location of the buttons to control the barrel spin. Very inconvenient. I have long hair. Past the bra strap. If you have long hair you need to manage the amount of hair you try to curl at one time. Use smaller sections or you will get an error because it is just too much for the barrel. This doesnt necessarily save you time. As you get more experienced with it that might be the case. But not when you are new to it. Where it has been handy for me is the back of my head. Yikes, when you are trying to roll 22" hair. This helped. You need to take a small section of hair, lay it across the top, make sure the hair is smooth and you set it down so the tail of the hair is parallel to the tool and lays gently downward before pressing the spin button. If you don't, you may end up with a fahoofled mess and need to start it over. You don't need to slide the hair into the barrel. You can lay it across the U shaped part in the center. Just be sure to position the rest of the strand the way I described earlier. Tangles don't really matter. The spinning stops and it angrily beeps at you and you simply slide the hair out of the chamber. There is nothing to tangle into the hair and catch it. If you want to leave your hair wrapped longer than the beep alert you can. It is just a convenient counter alert for you. This gives a final result of a beachy wave curl after you fuss with the finished barrel curls. Your final result will be determined by your curling products and style. I would say a curl setting product would be helpful. Quick heat set curls don't have the best staying power like a wet overnight set would. My overall opinion is that it is handy and does a decent job. For most people it probably isn't faster than a curling iron. It does help if you are trying to get a barrel wrap instead of a flat wrap and struggle with it. It is also nice for getting the back of the head if you have long hair. I am sure over time the creative souls will find lots of tricks and tips for interesting ways to style with it.

Love this thing!
(Iโm on my husbands account) I was reading some reviews and I was kind of nervous buying this. You have some good and some iffy ones. I can see why some people felt a certain way. However, I love this thing! My hair is kind of medium. Not thick and not thin. I curled my hair so fast and it was so easy. It looks amazing too!! As soon as I finished I was like wow I love this thing. I would pay 150 for this thing if I ever broke it. Best curling experience ever. Thanks CHI! โค๏ธ

fabulous curls
Love it! Easy to use and fabulous curls - just have to give yourself a few tries to perfect the process so you don't get tangled up in the barrell...but after that - easy peasy!

Easy to use and it works!!
easy to use and it works great!! since my hair is long i have to go back and curl the ends bc sometimes the tool struggles to curl my hair all the way to the bottom. but it isnโt that hard to do so i 10/10 recommend(

A low-maintenance spoonie SAHM Drudge gets a new lease on hair life!
I've never been the type to do much with my hair... It's typically been ponytails, hair clip buns, letting my frizzy waves air dry, or on special occasions, I'd take the time to straighten my hair. Becoming a busy SAHM hasn't really changed that much other than special occasions rarely happen for me now. Developing a chronic illness with chronic pain and fatigue has made me feel pretty inadequate in some aspects in my life, and one of the first things recommended when you start feeling depressed is "do something for you, that makes you feel good about yourself." This tool alone has made me actually get excited about doing my hair... and I am not, nor have I ever been, the type to get all done up for no reason! I have daughters who are starting to get interested in doing things with their hair. They had seen a family member use a different automatic curler and wanted "curls like that." To be fair, my kids' hair is not even close to shoulder length and just barely at shoulder length, and very fine, so I knew from the get go that this would likely be a failed venture for them... but I was genuinely curious and willing to try. Watched videos comparing all the different types, and settled on this for the price and design (I liked that it seemed fairly easy to get tangled hair out... that was my biggest fear!). When I first received it, I received a product that had clearly been opened, used, and returned. I immediately contacted the seller, supplied pictures of my findings, and they overnighted me a brand new one and I sent the previous one back... amazing customer service! Very much hassle free! Big kudos and gold stars to them! The second one was very clearly new. Everything was packaged nicely. Comes with a cleaning tool and instructions. I will say, the instructions I did not find as informative as watching youtube videos of how to use it. It does have suggested temperature settings in the instructions based on your hair type and how tight of a curl you'd like, and I did find those to be pretty spot on for our needs. It does say in the instructions that this tool is best suited for shoulder-length hair. I have medium thick, naturally wavy, shoulder length color treated hair. I've used this on my 6.5yo's fine, natural, straight, barely shoulder length hair as well. I don't have to use any hairspray for my hair to hold the curls this thing puts in my hair and the curls stay all day! The curls even held to a certain degree in my daughter's hair all day without hairspray as well. I do use a heat protectant spray, and highly recommend sectioning your hair in layers even if you have thin hair. **Highlights** -Much lighter in hand than I expected (great for those with chronic pain/fatigue!) -Very easy to use (there is a learning curve in getting comfortable with holding it going around your head and finding the right directional button to curl your hair in the direction you want) -Customizability is good (great for different looks and for usage on different family members) -All the heat is contained inside the barrel, preventing burns! (BIG deal when you're trying to curl an active child's hair!) -Timer counts for you so you can get lost in your thoughts without losing your hair ๐ -Auto Shut off for when you forget to turn it off ๐ (hellooo ADHD mom life!) -Great curls every time (again, once you get the hang of it!) -Quick! Both heating up and curling hair (granted, I took forever with a traditional curling iron because I often confused myself curling the wrong way or had to take breaks for my arms. It still takes time, but I found it a smoother use of time with much less need to re-do mistakes) -Temperature and power buttons lock once set, preventing accidental bumps to the settings (I didn't think this was important until I straightened my hair recently with a straightener that doesn't have this function. IT'S IMPORTANT! ๐ ) **Things to consider** -It had a hard time picking up my daughter's fine, short hair well enough to wrap completely around the inner barrel, making an incomplete curl. Part of it was due to her hair type, I think, but part of it also is just how big the outer barrel is. It makes it difficult to get any more hair in because the outer barrel prevents you from getting too close to the head, if that makes sense. We still got "curls" in her hair, but they were all mainly at the ends of her hair and very loose curls. She was happy with them, but I felt like I could have gotten better curls for her with curlers or a traditional curling iron -I hate sectioning hair, and sectioning is imperative with any curling device ๐ฅด! Especially with my thick, frizzy hair. It was still necessary with my daughter's fine hair. I did attempt to not do so many sections of my hair, and my hair got tangled from putting too much in. It gives an "error" message and beeps repeatedly if there's any resistance to the curling mechanism at all, so it's pretty intuitive at not getting super tangled automatically. Getting it untangled was as easy as pulling the hair out from the top of the barrel... no big deal at all! Just be aware... sectioning is required. -Clunky when getting the back of your head. This could just be me, but it was really difficult maneuvering this thing on the back of my head where I can't see and hitting the right directional buttons in the process. I often feel like the curls in the back of my hair are not near as good as the curls on the sides. I didn't ever have that feeling with a traditional curling iron. Something about the reach of your arm and this barrel and keeping it in place without any slippage is challenging. But I digress... I have a major circulatory issue with my dominant arm and that may play a part my personal experience. -I wish it came in different sizes (I do believe I saw a 1.5" somewhere). I'd love a smaller size that is better suited for my kiddos' fine and short hair for their dance recitals, and a larger barrel for me so I can have some options (I've always preferred a 2" curling iron). Overall, I love this tool and highly recommend it for anyone looking to re-vamp their hair game! You deserve to feel good about yourself! And this tool is so easy to use, even the least hairstyling-savvy person can get a head full of luscious curls in no time flat!

Easy & Effortless to Use but the Curls arenโt the Greatest
CHI Spin N Curl Rose Gold Curler - Super pretty with a nice design and very easy to use once you get the hang of it! The instructions donโt specifically mention holding your hair over the insert while letting it โhang on the other side of the curlerโ (it only mentions making sure that itโs in the insert) but thatโs basically all you have to make sure you do in order to get it to spin your hair piece in properly. The spinning panels inside only stop after a full rotation so even if youโve stopped pushing the button, it doesnโt stop spinning for a few seconds at times (until it makes / hits that full rotation) which makes it inconvenient and doesnโt hold the end section of your hair piece properly at times. If your hair piece isnโt thick enough to stay wrapped around the barrel all the way, the end comes out straight while the rest is curled. Itโs hard to check this while itโs wrapped in because once youโve moved the curler lower / over a little your hair starts to become undone. Then if your hair piece is too thick, the curl is scrunched and close together or just not a full curl. I curled almost my full head and my hair basically looked like a โmessier curl / scrunchedโ style. Sadly my curls come out better just using a regular wand curler. I will say, this curler is definitely โEffortlessโ and makes curling easier, it just needs a few adjustments to provide better curls in my opinion. A nice function it does have is the beeping function that will beep 4 times once youโve set and wrapped your hair piece around the barrel to let you know that your hair should be ready to pull out of the curler at that time, which is nice and helpful. There are 2 buttons on the handle near the higher part of the curler that you can choose from to determine which way you want your hair piece curled - this is genius, that way you donโt have to worry about figuring out which way to hold your curler to get your curls to come out in the right direction! Thereโs also an option to change how high / low you want the heat to be (like most curlers) along with a digital display. Overall a Decent Curler but sadly not worth the Amount itโs going for (currently listed for $99.99, I got mines for sale for $67.45 - all before tax) in my opinion especially since the curl outcome for this doesnโt beat my regular wand curler at home. Iโd recommend this for anyone that struggles with curling in general but if youโre experienced and/or looking for consistent, nice salon style curls, I wouldnโt recommend this one.

Plug is American, not UK or Europe. NO HAIR SPRAY!
Thought it would be a UK plug, it's some weird flat plug. The photo's show + sprays but no hair sprays given!!! I couldn't use the curler, soo sad! :(

I don't usually leave Amazon reviews but...
This is simply amazing. I have thin, straight shoulder-length Asian hair that doesn't hold curls at all (I tried digital perm which was supposed to last between 3 - 6 months but which came undone for me at the end of two months) but with this beauty, heat protection spray and curl spray, I get WONDERFUL curls that still look all crisp and bouncy after two days. There's definitely a learning curve - at first, I tangled my hair a lot while curling it - but it took me only three uses to get the hang of it. I also want to mention that I bought this as a dupe for Dyson Airwrap but with the amazing result and completely hassle-free use, I don't think I'll ever get that $700 bulky styler! I've found that the 15s, 370F option works best for my hair. I haven't noticed any deterioration of my hair quality, but my hair does get a bit dry if I use it on the same sections repeatedly. So, make sure not to use it on hair that's too damp!

Good material, good quality, would buy again.
Good quality, good material. Would buy again and again. Makes curling your hair so easy. Works great. Recommend it to everyone. My hair does not curl, or curl easily. And this one curled my hair and the curls lasted.
