Immediate results, so far...
Well, I have a research background and therefore also a heavy helping of skepticism but was willing to try something to help our 15-16 year old 40 lb rescue mutt who had been showing signs of canine cognitive dysfunction over the past several weeks, and perhaps even longer without us really noticing. She paces and pants, particularly during "sundowning" hours, and at night she would wake up, pace, pant, whine, and paw frantically at her bed while turning in circles (a "nesting" behavior that she has always had but became much more pronounced and prolonged). She also started having accidents in the house, and she has always been a 100% perfectly housetrained dog. So here are the variables I changed, all in a single day: I started giving her this pill (one pill mid-morning and one pill right before bed), started adding salmon oil to her meals (twice daily), incorporated a very short down-the-block-and-back afternoon/evening walk into her regular daily routine (she has hated walks ever since we adopted her), and made a commitment to letting her out to potty more frequently. She is in very good physical health, no signs of arthritis and has maintained good muscle mass. The very first night she slept like a baby. Insert dose of heavy skepticism here. The second night she slept like a baby. So? I remain skeptical but will update if this changes. From what I can see, this has made a very big difference already. She loves the taste of the pill and takes it readily - and she is a VERY picky dog, food-wise. It has not caused any stomach upset and she has a VERY sensitive stomach. We will see...3-month update: She's still sleeping like a baby through the night and the panting and pacing has disappeared! We have not changed the dose (she gets 2 pills daily - one in the morning and one at night right before bed). She generally seems more alert and sprightly. She doesn't even bother chewing these anymore (they're actually a bit too hard to chew) but no matter...she takes them with gusto and swallows them whole! So glad we started her on these supplements!Almost-1-year update: Our now 16-17-year-old rescue mutt is still doing well and still taking this supplement. We have since added the milk thistle tablets by the same company (the combo of SAM-e + milk thistle are basically what's in the veterinary medicine Denamarin). Our vet agrees that giving our dog these supplements is a good idea. Interestingly, she also said that SAM-e either works like magic, or doesn't work at all. So, I hope that if you are trying this, you have a dog that falls into the "SAM-e works like magic" camp because this has definitely given back our dog's quality of life, and we are thrilled for her to still be with us. Also as a disclaimer, we did have to start our dog on Galliprant (prescription osteoarthritis medicine) as well, which is not surprising given her age, so that definitely also improves her quality of life. We will keep on trucking with our geriatric pup!Final 2020 update: We lost our wonderful girl at the end of June to potential liver and/or cardiac failure. She was probably between 16.5-17 years old. Interestingly she went downhill very quickly - it was like flipping a light switch - and we took her to the emergency vet and let her keep going down the Rainbow Bridge. I do not have lab value evidence that this product worked (we decided to skip bloodwork given our dog's age and anxiety levels at the vet, and knowing that even if we were to find evidence of liver failure, there would not be much we could do) but instead watched her clinical signs carefully. In her last weeks, she was probably uncomfortable but still enjoyed eating (very much!) and was very mobile and able to potty totally normally and rested easily at night. I am thankful that her decline was so sudden and dramatic - it made it "easier" for us to make a hard decision, and she did not suffer long. I can say with certainty that this supplement improved her quality of life and she took it for a full 12 months. Good girl, doggo. Love you forever.

Great Liver Support Supplement!
This review is for SAMe for Dogs - S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine, Liver Supplements for Dogs - Brain Supplement for Dogs, Promotes Cognitive Support, Dog Liver Support Supplement. I started giving my dog this SAMe with Milk Thistle from Coco and Luna to replace the Denamarin shortage a few years ago and have never gone back. My dog takes the SAMe and Milk Thistle willingly unlike Denamarin capsules where I practically had to force it down his throat and he would try to spit it out every time (even when I wrapped it in Greenies pill pockets)! My fingers would also turn all blue from the huge capsules. It was so stressful trying to give him Denamarin every day until I had to (thankfully) find alternatives to it. It turned out to be the best thing that happened to us. We’re both so happy with the switch. I have to give my boy 3 pills daily in combination with 3 Milk Thistles according to his weight. I often substitute Denestra SAMe capsules when I’m low on this product but he seems to prefer this one more, perhaps because he gets 3 of them and not just one. He swallows them like treats every day! My boy is almost 13 years old now and he’s as healthy as ever thanks to this SAMe from Coco and Luna. The bottle always arrives nicely sealed inside and out for safety with the lot and expiration date clearly stated on the bottle (about 2 years from today). Overall, a wonderful life saver. We have both the SAMe and Milk Thistle on subscription and we’re very pleased with them. We only want Made in the USA products for our boy. We’ll give this product a 5.0/5.0 -09/12/2023.

GREAT STUFF!!
Our 14 year old Chihuahua seemed confused all the time with very little energy. We started giving her this supplement about 3 weeks ago and the difference is amazing. When it is time to go out now, she races out the door like a puppy. Because this pill is very hard, she can't chew it so I soak one tablet in water then blend it in with her food.

Had to Return
ALSO UPDATE AT THE END FOR THE POWDER..Like many other reviews, I usually purchase Denamarin, but it has been unavailable. I tried this because it was in chewable form also. I do need to cut tablets into smaller pieces for my doggie because, she has a collapsing trachea and has a difficult time chewing and chokes. But, what I noticed is her digestive system wasn't able to break down completely. I would find hard and dry clumps of it in her stools. Which created some tears that produced some blood in her stools. I tried to crush completely, but still produced same clumps. I stopped after 3 days and had to return. My thought was that if she is also not digesting correctly, then her body isn't receiving the full benefit of the supplement. I am now trying the powder form now and will leave review after some days of usage. But, the powder form has to mixed with water to administer. Because, it is recommended to give on an empty stomach. I really wanted the chewable to work. For dogs that can chew this, it might be beneficial. As long as their system can digest properly.UPDATED Sept 23,2022. Had to return the powder form as well. Too hard to administer. Since it should be given on an empty stomach. You have to mix with water to make into a paste and administer from your finger. It was messy and difficult and my dog would aspirate (choke) afterwards. Powder form should be only if you can add to food. Which you could but that would inhibit absorption.
