used PTFE tape to fit ,threads seemed slack whilst assembling as soon as pressurised it leaked on joints and cause me to do repair work to ceiling below .had to rip out and replace.

When installing a new mixer shower on a stud wall recently it became necessary to buy this bar. The way that the pipes were run meant that they needed a bracket like this to secure them to a batten in the wall, and from the picture it appeared to offer the perfect solution. It was solidly made and looked to be reasonable value but unfortunately it became obvious that it would not be suitable for the installation because the chrome pipes were too short to attach the bar valve to. No amount of trial and error helped and so this Sagittarius bracket was abandoned in favour of another than was obtained from a local plumbing merchant – one that did not have the dog-legs, but instead had the attachments at the back of the plate instead. In some circumstances I am sure that this product will be just what is needed, but it wasn’t much use to me and instead it cost me both wasted time and money.

Made fitting a new bar shower easy. No problems encountered before or after installation.

I purchased this after finding a expensive shower bar kit lacked basic fittings to connect it to a stud wall without sourcing an after market fitting kit. The idea of the valve mounting bracket is fine but the chrome inserts are not long enough to show enough thread through any tiles and cement board once fitted. The tolerances of the threads themselves are machined far too slack and as It came with no instructions I have no idea if you need a special jointing compound as well as PTF tape. The amount of PTF tape to seal it would be far too excessive and may very likely split the unit before a 100% water tight joint was formed. All in all a disapointment so I have now had to buy a speed fitting kit and will have to set out the fixed distance and solder joints behind the tiles something I was wanting to avoid doing.
