Temporary, But the Only Game in Town
My normally black beard went almost completely white within a year or two and my wife said to dye it. I used Just For Men beard color for at least a couple of years with no problem and was quite happy with it. That is, until one day I stated having severe allergic reactions to it. I tried this product, Blackbeard For Men, as an alternative. It is easy to apply, which is good because it really doesn't last much more than a day. If I go to a restaurant and wipe my mouth with a napkin, it leaves a black streak where it contacted my beard and rubbed off. My pillow cases also sometimes have black streaks on them. This is very much a topical treatment; hence, it can readily be rubbed off. But, it doesn't wash out in the rain, which is good. It looks somewhat less natural than the dyed beard colors (e.g., JFM), but applying some sort of baby oil or beard oil helps with that. The oil also helps with a little itchiness I get with this color treatment. This product is rather pricey, maybe too much. That said, right now this product is the only game in town for me, but I really wish someone would develop a dye that does not cause the chemical reactions like Just For Men does. That would be the winning ticket.

I Finally Like The Way My Beard Looks
Ahoy, mateys. I always wanted to sport a beard, but did not like the "salt & pepper" way it looked. I knew about dye formulas like Just For Men or A Touch of Grey, but complaints about chemical burns and toxic ingredients kept me away. Blackbeard is a more temporary application than those, which is fine. You brush it on each day and wash it out each day. It doesn't take long to apply. However you do have to be careful - as one of the other reviewers said, wipe the excess off the brush as best as you can before applying to your face. Otherwise too much on the brush will leave dark streaks in your beard or on your face. If you do get streaks or blotches, just quickly wipe the spot with a tissue. I did dock the product one star because: A) I do find the product a bit pricey for the amount you are getting, and B) As some other reviewers have mentioned, it does tend to dry your beard a bit which can lead to some itchiness. However, overall it does it's job and I see myself buying it again when I run out.10/22/2017: UPDATE: I'm still buying the product, but bought the last batch from Captain Jim himself. It's the same price for the most part but he had a special sale. Also want to mention that the company is very responsive if you have questions, and they stand by their product. It's nice to deal with a company like this.

Works pretty well. I switched to this because Just for Men gave me such a bad chemical burn that wouldn't heal for weeks that I had to go to the doctor. As others have said, it leaves your beard with a rough texture. However, contrary to some reviews, it DOES NOT rub off on clothing or towels provided that you give it enough time to dry. One bottle has lasted me several months when used sporadically (4-6 times a month).

Stays in even after a few days, just requiring a comb or brush through and a small touch up the next morning. Doesn’t come off as easy as some eye Mascara that I used for the past few years. The product kind of Hardin’s a little keeping your bread the way you comb it. Just remember to try to keep your head level and try not to grind your chin or beard in to you shirt it could leave a mark. And also after a few days you can wash it out and start fresh if it starts to get to much build up for you.My beard type is African American brown black

A bit pricey and little, but does work.
Works great. Matches my color very well. Stays on all day even after washing my face. I try not to use soap, but water alone won't wash it off unless I scrub it. Doesn't smear to pillow like others claim and not to clothes either. It will dry and hardened so it feels a bit unnatural, but who's really touching your face? Don't like that it's very little and the brush wears out. I do like that you can cover even the smallest hair stubs for short beards like mine. That's the reason I am buying again. Great product a bit too expensive for how little you get. Might try using a mascara on the women's section that's cheaper.

I Like It BUT...
It is a good alternative to the chemicals and like other reviewers have stated it does fade after about 6 hours and you need to reapply. I ordered the new black/brown color. The issue with this is that it dries very DULL. In bathroom lighting it looks fine but outdoors it doesn't have the sheen like natural hair so it is noticeable. I apply a coconut oil to my beard first to keep the shine. Hopefully this can be improved by adding something to maintain a sheen.

Easy, neat, clean and long lasting
Finally arrived, damn lockdown, had to try it right outa the box. I might have applied to much, just for experimentation purposes. I left the white stripes to show contrast and maybe a new look? You Vote But it’ll be so easy to apply it gradually so no one notices the subtleness of my returning youth.Been shaving for 35 yrs since boot camp, just started this goatee the first lockdown, so Ive been denying the gray a chance to strip my youth. Saw a black beard video and for the cost, thought at the least it’s worth the laugh. But this very well may be a monthly subscription.

Add shine to your smile!
At first I was putting to much and it looked fake, It is somewhat like mascara, Then after the second application , decided to just brushed lightly the tip of the hair and not go down to the skin, found this to look more realistic and I'll get more use out of it. To relieve that caked on felling I applied some of my hair product to my goatee, it not only felt better but also gave it a shiny appearance. It would be helpful if you use a comb after you apply hair product, possible use baby oil or another gel to give it a nice shine in the end! Will order again.

Totally delighted !!!
Product just arrived so had to try it immediately and it's absolutely brilliant. I was using a beard dye but was beginning to get a severe reaction with burns and weeping skin, so hoping this won't do that, all of the reviews indicate it won't. Can't believe how I can see my beard now, as being in my early 60s and despite my hair still being dark, the beard was so white and almost disappeared apart from aging me. PS to above, a day has passed and def no reaction and although some reviews mention their beard didn't feel same texture, I haven't noticed this, it's a perfect product for guys who can't use permanent dye products.

Good coverage
I used to use JFM until it nearly burned a hole in my top lip, underneath my moustache! I always liked the overall coverage it gave me but healthwise, it can be dangerous, so time for a change. I now use a henna dye which is good and natural, but I've tried a couple and they do fade quite quickly. However, they're good as an undercolour to Blackbeard and if, like me, you like a dark beard, then Blackbeard is good. Quick-drying and with only a few quick brushes, you'll get good dark volume and colour back through your beard. It can feel a bit clumpy and stuck together initially, but that's understandable when you're first trying it and you may need time to determine how much to use on each application. No matter, once dry, just take a thin-toothed comb and brush through carefully; however, you really do need to determine what's important to you - if you want good appearance with volume and coverage, or if you're a bit too hung up instead, on how it feels. In addition, I haven't had any staining on shirt collars, pillows etc. I have a full beard and it works well with the henna dye underneath. I still think it would be good if you have some or a lot of natural colour in your beard and you just want to tidy away the areas of grey. I have a tendency to fiddle about with my beard while checking work on my computer, so the more you do that, the quicker it will thin, I imagine. But, say you're heading out to socialise and you notice your beard could use a tidy, and quickly, I think this would be good. For what it is and does, I like it. Like everything in life, you have to try it... ;-).

Brilliant but takes practice!
Love love love this product. I'm only in my 30's and already getting grey. Just for men is a solution of course but it's messy and time consuming. This is just perfect. The coverage is great and it stays on! Sometimes I even find it a little difficult to wash off it stays on so well. BUT the mascara-type brush it comes with for us lads will take some practice to master! So when you apply I've found the following useful. 1) when you bring the brush out of the tube if a "glob" of colour is stuck on the end of the brush dab that off on tissue or inside the tube. You don't want that glob of colour smeared on your face. Yep. I did. 2) As instructions say go with the grain/direction of growth of your beard. Very important. If you try going against you're just gonna get colour globs all over your skin and stuck in your beard (depending on how long/short your beard is of course). 3) Use very gentle strokes and stick with it. Sometimes it looks like it isn't colouring but keep stroking over the area GENTLY (especially true if your beard/stubble is short) and it'll get covered. 4) Keep checking that you've got coverage. Once grey is covered don't be tempted to go over it again and again, it's super easy to put too much on. 5) I found keeping a tissue in the other hand to dab up mistakes really useful too. Go buy it. You'll never use Just 4 Men again and it takes literally a minute or two with practice.

Basically, it's mascara. Bit of practice = decent result
I realised that it's basically mascara for your face. The brush that comes with it could be better - but that's the same with mascara. Different brushes for different hair types/lengths.There were solid lumps despite giving it a good shake and stir.HOWEVER... after a bit of practice and a very light touch, I am now able to convincingly fix my moustache which seemed to have gone literally white in parts over the course of a month. It doesn't run or smudge, but if you go to bed with it on, it'll be worn off when you wake up.It's not bad. I expected it to last longer (without showering or washing). Maybe provide two different brush options. This is Jenny Madley's brother using her Prime Account btw. She doesn't have a beard to be clear :)

Use Blackbeard to lose the years
My beard is silver which is fine if short but I wanted grow it out and found it made me look older so I used Blackbeard temporary dye and it worked fine. Now I’ve gone for permanent dye but still use Blackbeard to touch up
