Top of the Pops.
A slender book of essays on fatherhood by my favourite author. I only wish this had been longer. Warm, witty and wise, each piece has something recognisable to say about parenthood and says it in such a way that will bring a smile to the face or a tear to the eye. Ah, Michael Chabon, how wonderfully you write…

Another winner from Michael Chabon!
What a fantastic read! Michael Chabon's sublime skill with written language comes through again. Being a father in a similar demographic with the author probably didn't hurt, but it was all good stuff. Highly recommended!!

Fathers Were Once Sons Themselves
I admire Michael Chabon’s writing and enjoyed the reflections on fatherhood—the writer’s own fatherhood as well as his relationship to his own father (would that be a reflection on sonhood?). I gave this essay collection as a Father’s Day gift to my brother, who is father to three sons. I was delighted when he told me how much he enjoyed this book, so much so that he’s looking for other books by Chsbon to read. (I recommended The Yiddish Policeman’s Union and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.)

Luscious writing
A delicious series of essays on fatherhood, small book, quick read. But the writing it all Chabon: complex, sensitive, and composed with the care of a sonata. I love this man. The essays are touching and witty and embroider the heart of the intimate permutations of fatherhood and son-hood.

Repackaged from online
Most of the essays are published elsewhere avaliable online and don't really give a sense of fatherhood anyway. I wish he'd written a real book... Not a repackaged one

Good
Chabon is such a good writer. These essays are diverse, some much better than others. But worth the short time to read.

memories of parenthood
I enjoyed this book in the limited capacity that it has to offer the reader. There really is no story It is just the author's poignant reminiscences of his children and the memories that led to a deeper understanding of their character. That said as a mother and a grandmother it allowed me the guilty pleasure to revisit my own episodes that meant so much to me That was joyful in and of itself

Another great volume of essays
In addition to being a great fiction writer, Chabon's essays are thoughtful, moving, and a joy to read. I've recommended this to everyone, not just men, because there are lessons here for anyone who has children, male or female.

A good gift for Dads
I haven't actually read this book. After reading reviews, I bought it as a Father's Day gift for my brother. It arrived in time, and a week later, my brother called to thank me, said it was a great book and he was sharing it with some of his co-workers who are also Dads and teachers.

A collection of stories about the author and his children. The writing is superb.

Wonderful book for sensitive and aware dads.
I love Chabon's writing in general. I bought 4 copies of "POPS" and gave them as Christmas presents to the good dads I know. Each one of them will appreciate and relate to all or parts of the book.

A disappointing collection--if you're a fan of Chabon, as I am, you search the internet for any essays he may write. Here is a compilation of previously released, through various sources (one being his now defunct homepage, which now reroutes you to a Harper Collins site), writings. So, I dropped $17.00 on some essays already read but collected in one volume. As a previous reviewer noted, hardly an adequate follow-up to Manhood or Maps and Legends.

Outstanding
My son Steve recommended I read some of Michael Chabon's writings. They were students together at UC Irvine and both live in Berkeley. They've never met but Steve knew I'd love his work. "Pops" is the first book I've read by Chabon. It is outstanding and, being a writer myself, I'm inspired by his writing and plan to read more. My own son was right.I especially liked ,Chabon's final essay, "Pops."
