Works well, but doesn't allow air to escape when used with Chemex.
The pour spout on the Chemex coffee maker also serves as a vent so that air can escape while coffee goes in. With the paper Chemex filters, you are supposed to put the thicker part of the filter over the spout, which is stiff enough to allow air to escape. With this cloth one, the filter deforms to the shape of the spout and blocks the flow of air.A piece of aluminum foil between this filter and the glass over the spout solves this, as pictured.

Excellent reusable coffee filter limited to about 400 uses.
This filter leaves no residue in coffee cups or in the carafe. It does require hand washing and drying after after use, easily accomplished by running under water, hand squeezing and placing over a properly sized bowl or jar. After throwing out countless paper filters and being disappointed by the less than perfect filtering of reusable plastic mesh filters whose mesh ultimately tears from cleaning, I have found this simple innovation very pleasing and accommodating. After about 400 uses over a little more than one year the filter finally became loaded with grinds that could not easily be removed and that greatly reduced drainage and caused overflow. At its current price it compares well in cost per use to single use paper filters.

Loved it so much we bought another
Love this filter! We hated wasting paper on filters, but we have a small coffee pot and the Gold Tone mesh filters have terrible reviews (since the bottom is solid plastic coffee comes out weak). This is the perfect solution! We love this filter - only thing is make sure you turn it inside out so that the seams are on the outside - it's much easier to clean that way. We ended up getting a second one since this one has been so great. That way we can also wash the other one more frequently, though we had just been rinsing it, wringing it out, and letting it air dry each morning with no issues - no funny smells, no mold, nothing. This little filter is awesome!

A must.
Smaller than I thought it was going to be, though that’s my fault for not reading the description better. It still fits in my 12-cup drip coffee machine, and I feel so good about ditching paper coffee filters and using this organic cotton one (with no nylon— yay for the Earth!) Definitely recommend for anyone trying to lessen their environmental impact.

Fits and works perfectly!
This filter works perfectly! I have a Mr.Coffee 5 cup coffeemaker, and the paper filters I used always let grounds through because they were too short. This filter fits perfectly and works wonderfully! It seems to be very well-made, and I can’t think of anything I’d change about it. It hasn’t let a single coffee ground through, rinses off well, and works great both making coffee immediately and when using a timer and setting it up the night before. Not only does it work better than the paper filters, but there’s no waste with this one, and I really appreciate that. We’ve had it for a few weeks so far, we use it at least once a day, and we love it.

Economical and waste free
I gave these a 5-star rating because They couldn't be simpler to use just flip them inside out and give him a good washing. And when it seems like they need to be scrubbed clean let him soak in vinegar that is helpful. These are worth the money imagine all the money you save in the coffee filters that you throw away

Won't be using paper filters anymore
This filter is seriously awesome. Even thought amazon sells it, a small company makes it. Simple design works well. I find it filters better than the paper filters that I've been using for years before now. I find it really easy to clean and dry. Only thing that was stated by previous reviews is that since the fabric lacks shape it depresses into the "pour zone" in the glass. This means that air can't escape while coffee is filtering down. My roommate luckily has some glass straws that fit perfectly in the "pour zone" and I just attach it with a rubber band. Even with that being said I really love this product and am so happy to wake up and make a cup of coffee with it.

Excellent reusable coffee filter. Works perfectly in Black & Decker 5 Cup Coffee Maker
Ordered this coffee filter and have been using it daily for about one week. So far, it's working just as I was hoping. It fits perfectly in our Black & Decker 5 Cup Coffee Maker, even though it's marketed as being for a 2 to 4 cup coffee maker. We haven't noticed any problem with the flavor or quality of the coffee. Super easy to use, and seems well constructed. Plus it feels good knowing we are using something more sustainable than disposable filters; this will pay for itself before too long because we are no longer having to buy and re-buy disposable ones.My only remotely negative comment is that it's slightly tricky to clean, particularly when it comes to the "pockets" (see 2nd picture). Coffee grinds can get stuck in these pockets and it requires a little extra time/effort to get them out entirely. What I found is that if I turn the filter inside out, such that the pockets are on the outside surface instead of the interior surface, this avoids the problem altogether. It has worked just as well even when it's flipped inside out -- plus it prevents the tiny coffee granules from getting stuck. :) Would definitely purchase from this company again!

Cloth Coffee Filter
The organic cloth Chemex coffee filter pushes the water through much faster than if you were using the Chemex paper filters - because of this - the coffee has a less develpoped flavour and the coffee is certainly not as clear as it is when using the original heavy woven paper filters. Perhaps doubling up the cloth filters might help.

Reusable Chemex filter does the job, but makes weaker coffee
Pros:-Don't have to keep reordering Chemex filters, which during this pandemic have been a challenge to find in stores near us.-It does feel good to do just one more small thing to look after the environment by using a reusable product.Cons:-The filter doesn't seal completely around the funnel of the Chemex, and the ability of the water to drain through isn't as smooth as a paper filter, so when pouring the water over the grounds, you get this bubbling effect where the filter doesn't seal to the glass. When you try to have it seal perfectly, coffee water spurts out of it. Water filters through very quickly. The result is just a weaker cup of coffee.

Best Chemex Filter I've Used
Well, I think I finally found the best filter for my Chemex Coffee Maker. I don't like using single-use paper filters. I was using a stainless steel filter, but the coffee came out rather bitter and the water passed through the grounds quickly, leaving me a little non-plussed.The Pinyon filter is easy to use, easy to clean and works exactly as the paper filters do. You still have to bloom the grounds. The pour works on the idea that you keep the water level about 3/4" from the brim of the maker. Chemex is known for making a very smooth-tasting cup of coffee. The Pinyon filter delivers that perfectly and with little fuss. Before the first use, you boil the filter for three minutes. The filter needs to be wet before use. Every few pots of coffee, boil the filter for a deep clean. This is a fantastic invention (yes, I think it's an invention, not just a cloth replacement). The stainless steel filter I used before the Pinyon filter was NOT an invention, and was extremely expensive at the time I bought it.This filter is inexpensive. A package of Chemex paper filters will run you at least triple the price of this filter. The Pinyon filter is well-stitched and made of a strong hemp-cotton blend.Highly, highly recommend if you want to create that smooth flavour that Chemex is known for without tossing a paper cone into the garbage after every pot.Kudos to Pinyon Products for a great product.

Excellent product
I was sceptical at first because I wasn’t sure this would pour as clean of a cup as the paper Chemex filters. Since Chemex paper filters have pretty much gone extinct in my area I had to go with this product and after a couple weeks I’m very impressed! Would definitely recommend and will be buying this again if/when I need another.

Support the environment and small business
My partner and I recieved a coffee maker for Christmas and I knew I was gonna have to buy something like this because there was no way I was gonna be using disposable filters. So far the filter has been great. The fit is fantastic, easy to clean, and no difference in taste that I can discern.I was also thrilled to learn this was from a Canadian company and wish I had thought to go to Etsy or something like that first instead of Amazon. Buy local, support your small business owners and the environment at the same time 💕10/10 I have and will continue to recommend this to other people.
