DEWALT 27 Gallon Vertical Air Compressor, Portable 1.7 HP, Oil-Free, Low Volt Easy Start Motor, 78 dBA, 5.1 SCFM at 90 PSI, 6.8 SCFM at 40 PSI

This is my second compressor — my first was a 6-gallon 150-PSI red pancake unit from a competitor brand. I used that smaller unit for year of weekends working on my truck at home. With the purchase of some real air tools, I pretty quickly outgrew the old unit. Those 6 gallons go FAST if you are doing anything much more than filling tires. It’s really disruptive to have to wait for the refills.This unit is an excellent upgrade, and in retrospect I wish I had started with it and skipped the pancake altogether. The construction is sturdy and impressive in every way. The valves and knobs have a very satisfying “industrial” feel, way above the old unit which feels flimsy in comparison. With the vertical design it is significantly larger than the pancake but takes up only slightly more floor space. With the big wheels it is actually easier and more fun to move around. And most importantly, not having to wait for the constant refills is a game-changer. No problem running a zippy AstroPneumatic impact wrench, nibbler, grinder, flange/punch, or drill at 90PSI or more. I haven’t done paint, but other reviews indicate it will work for that as well.It takes around 12 to start up. It’s easy to turn it on and get organized while it gets up to pressure.It’s noisy but no noisier than the small unit. I use ear protection especially when releasing the air and draining the condensation build-up at the end of the day. Do this every time and I am quite sure this thing will last a long, long time.

This is a very nice air compressor; solid and well made. It seems to keep a constant 35 psi after tank empties, which is helpful in blowing out larger irrigation systems with long zones. This unit is very easy to wheel around and the tires make it easy to move over most any reasonable terrain. It’s an air compressor, so it is never going to be real quiet; however I found this unit much quieter than my small 2 1/2 gallon pancake compressor. Easy to drain air through bottom drain. Overall I love it! I paired this with the 50’ Dewalt retractable air hose coil and bought several pneumatic Dewalt tools (hammer drill, die grinder, paint sprayer, wretched wrench). All set in my shed now...

The wheels tip outward and wobble on the axle when you move it. I do like the performance of the compressor

Great air compressor it's stronger than I thought it be. My old air compressor had a 5 hp motor so going to a 1.7 hp I was a little worried but I did not want to pay the price of what the new 5 hp cost. I have not had the compressor long but so far I'm pleased with the unit.

Although DeWalt proudly proclaims that this compressor is built in the USA, as an American, its build quality was embarrassing. Shortly after running it through its break-in I heard a loud hissing which quickly revealed itself with a blown off high pressure air hose. I had to partially disassemble the unit to find out how this happened and discovered that both clamps on one of the air hoses were never crimped - not even lightly. So it was just a matter of time before the high pressure hose blew off its fitting. This is a perfect example of what made in America should NOT be, lazy, incompetent, stupid assembly of quality Chinese parts. I fixed the problem and got it running, but I should not have had to do the work of the idiot who was paid to assemble it properly in the first place. Several screws were incorrect and filled holes rather than tightened things down. Very disappointing. Shame on DeWalt for such poor quality control for not finding an obvious defect BEFORE shipping the unit to an end user.

Works great! This packs enough punch to blow out our sprinkler system when fully compressed. Pretty heavy to roll around, but has many uses. We'll make our money back just in blowing our sprinkers in a few years.

Portable and big enough to handle and pneumatic tool.

Handy, portable, 110V, 200 psi, oil-less air compressor. My garage has one 220V plug I use for my welder and plasma cutter. Having a 200 psi 110V air compressor to use with the plasma cutter is great. No need to wire it in or have another 220V plug wired in. Great for the many small projects I have. Being electric helped save on buying an oil separator, too.
