My 4 and 6 year old attacked this in tandem and the little called uncle pretty early -- this is a very dense plaster for the plastic tools that they include, and he got frustrated. My other son took to water and smashing and made some decent headway.I'd consider junking the plastic tools and give them a dull screwdriver or something.

We’ve had a few of this type of dig kit and my kids (7/4) always enjoy them. They do take 30-60 minutes to dig through and make a massive mess so we always do it outside. This one I had to reorder because it got damaged in shipping and because it was a gift I didn’t want to give it damaged.

Fun little afternoon activity. It's a good size and works well when you follow the directions. My nieces loved it!

I bought this for my grandson for Christmas, and it arrived in a beat-up box, dirty, and the pirate head was damaged. I submitted for an exchange, and the second one arrived in worse condition. I picked the best of the two and returned one. It was disappointing to give as a gift.

I got this for a pirate themed party to give as a gift to the Birthday Pirate. He loved the kit and raved about all the things he found while on "the dig". The kit is very cool - comes with all you need to find treasure...and there's lots to be found. I think this is a very good activity kit for the price.

This is probably one of the best dig kits my son and I have ever tried. My 6 year old is obsessed with dig kits, and this one looked really cool. I love the design of the skull and the octopus. It came with ample dig tools and even included a pirate hat and eye patch, which my son loved and immediately put on for the digging fun. There are no instructions but it's pretty self-explanatory. Just run water over the statue before you dig in to soften it a little. The fact that there were 20 things to find in this kit is awesome! They were relatively easy to get to as well. My son and I had a lot of fun. Highly recommend!!

This is a typical plaster excavation activity. The gems are the little plastic variety (as pictured in the listing). But there are quite a few of them, which is nice. This dig kit is not as nice as many others out there, but it is also about half the cost. So, for the price, I do think this is still a good value and a fun activity. I think this could be a good one to pick up if you're kids haven't done one before to see if it's something they'd actually like to do before you buy more expensive kits.
