Stranger Things Crochet (Crochet Kits)

It comes with everything you need to start a project and I love all the characters you can make!!

I was given this kit as a gift but felt compelled to write a review after seeing all the negative ones. I have only made one so far, but I found the instructions solid and the project design really clever. I had plenty of material to finish with some yarn left over. I was a bit conservative with the stuffing, but I really didn't need to be. I have more than enough left for doll 2.I will say this is not for beginners. And it definitely helps if you have experience specifically with dolls or amigurumi. The instructions weren't overly descriptive, but it was enough if you know what you're doing. I guess I'll have to see if I run out of materials when making Eleven, but I don't think I will.A dedicated beginner may be able to figure it out with lots of patience and looking up techniques and videos online.Sharing a pic of my Demogorgon. Might have went a little over bored with the white, but I like it.

The kit itself is great. The instructions are clear. However, it didn't include enough yarn for the projects included (eleven and demogorgon). I had to order extra gray yarn for elevens shoes and now I am going to have to order more tan for the demogorgon. I don't have enough to finish the final arm. If the kit came with enough yarn to complete the projects it would easily be a 5 star review.

Love Stranger Things and am a medium-accomplished crochet dad. Actually bought this kit from a retail store first before purchasing another one from Amazon.The dolls from the author are top, and her characters are instantly recognizable from her Women of History books and free online doll patterns as well as her Etsy store.First off, like another reviewer mentioned, the recommended yarn (in the patterns it states brand, color and weight) is 100% NOT the yarn this kit comes with. The recommended stuff is pure cotton fingering weight and would probably work well worth the included 2mm hook. The yarn it comes with is much bigger, and is either a blend or 100% synthetic which is way harder to work with as well as nearly impossible to work with a 2mm hook without constant frustration. I used a 2.25 for the dolls and it was still a little small, but do-able.The main reason for 3 stars though is I started with Eleven and made the first leg no problem. But then ran out of gray starting the second shoe. It didn't come with enough gray! While I pondered that situation (recall above- recommended yarn was not what comes in the kit) I started the demogorgon. That went great till I ran out of that brown yarn too with a couple of petals and an arm to go.The pattern states he should be 8 1/2" tall and he finished quite a bit bigger at like 10" tall. I think this is, again, because the smaller yarn the pattern calls for is not the big stuff the kit comes with. So I bought another kit from Amazon, used that to finish the demogorgon and the gray for Eleven's other shoe.If you buy this kit, know that you are paying $12 for 12 really good patterns, but you're going to have to either buy 2 like I did or buy the recommended (way better) yarn. I went through and figured out all the yarn for the remaining characters and ordered it from Hobbii online. Each color with discounts was only $1.85 shipped. And is massively nice to work with. I'm making Vecna next.I'd say the patterns are medium difficulty. Not a beginner project by any stretch (start with a strawberry!) but I'm not advanced at all and I did fine.

I mostly wanted this for the pattern book. I like the style of crocheted dolls. My issue with the kit is there isn't enough yarn to complete the project. I had to use some of my own which was a different gauge. The hook they give is really flimsy. I decided to use my own which made for bigger stitching, but it seems to work just fine. The instructions on the legs were very confusing and I ended up putting the legs on backwards... d'oh! I am glad I got it for cheap. I would not recommend for beginners, but okay for someone experienced.

There wasn't enough yarn to finish either project in the book with the size hook needed. But the book of projects makes up for the price of the kit.
