It was easy to fit and replace using Youtube video. DIY was a lot cheaper than getting company to do it.

I heard a loud squeal when starting my G5. Thought the Kirby was done, its 25 years old. Watched a few repair videos and found it was the impeller causing the squealing noise. I replaced and my G5 is like new. If you are mechanically minded and have some basic tools you can do it yourself. Just watch Kirby videos and its easy. You will find that the Kirby is so well designed and built, all parts are easily replaceable. Tools required, a 9mm wrench to hold shaft while loosening impeller nut, screwdriver, silicone, scraper knife. Screws are torch bit T15 and T20.
