It does it's job but it could be better. The back is attached with magnets and you're supposed to use the included adhesive on the back to attach it to the mailbox. This makes no sense if you have a metal mailbox. Magnets are great for metal mailboxes. So I simply tossed the back and put a piece of gorilla tape over the batteries (to keep them snug) so that the magnets could then stick to the mailbox (instead of the now discarded back). Perfect - except the magnets aren't attached to the unit. They are just loosely friction fit, so they fall right out. So I had to glue them to the light myself (I used Marine Goop). Whether using the back or not, this should have been taken care of at the factory. And I have to deal with the tape I added when the batteries are ready to be changed. I don't understand how they missed the obvious use of magnets for attaching to metal mailboxes. Duh...It illuminates very well and the motion sensor works from the back of my Mail Boss mailbox very well.

My mailman comes late so this motion activated light comes in so handy. Like others, I removed the back as the magnets dont stay stuck very well with the back plate on. I tape the batteries down and then attach. The batteries last 6-8 months. Mine has been working over 2 yrs so far.

Been using this in my Mailbox in Michigan for over a year. Absolutely thrilled with the performance so far. I haven't had to change the batteries yet, but the magnetic release to make it easy is a nice touch. Made it through the cold winter, no issues. Turns on right when you want it to, and stays on until about 30 seconds after you close the door. Great product, would buy again!

I love this super bright motion sensor mailbox light! Since I always get the mail in the evening and usually in the dark, I no longer fear the stowaway away critter or having to double check for straggling pieces of mail. I did skip the 3M tape and hot glued a nickel sized magnet to the back to mount in my metal mailbox.My only criticism is that there is no warning or indication that the batteries are about to give in. One day it’s bright and happy and the next day is darkness. A low battery level red LED or a dimmed light would be extremely well received and worth the extra star.I’m buying another one today for a neighbor.

This thing is fantastic! No more blindly feeling around my large mailbox when it's dark out. Spiders seem to love mailboxes, so I was always nervous about sticking my hand in there. It's nice and bright and motion-senses the lid being opened.They don't tell you in the description, but the assembly is held together with two magnets. So when it's time to change the batteries you just pull it towards you and the back mounting plate stays affixed to the back of your mailbox (with double-sided tape).

Looks decent, very bright. Does not work as advertised. I have never once gotten it to light up when I open my mailbox. The only way I know it "works" is because if I cover it with my hand and face it down, when I face it up it lights up. Other than that, it's just taking space in my mailbox.

My street and mailbox are not lit so it's very dark. The light is great when it's in there!2 issues:The magnets fell out of the plastic and the light will sometimes fall down. I swapped out the magnets for velcro and that was fine for me.The main problem is that it drains batteries fast. I'm getting about a week or 2 on a set. I'm really surprised as it has a motion sensor and the mailbox is only opened 2 times a day.

This is a great find after using the ones that attach to the mailbox door with adhesive - that ALWAYS fall off. I know our mailman will be thrilled not to keep picking up the old one when it falls on the street. This one is high in the back of the mailbox so hopefully it won't be hit by mail - and it attaches with magnets so the weather changing won't affect the glue (the old one had).
