Whirlpool W10822553 Shock Absorber

I had a drum balance issue with a Whirlpool washer, and noticed that the shocks were leaking. I replaced all 4, which helped, but unfortunately, the drum bearings had failed and also needed to be replaced. The shocks were easy to install, as you can break the locking tabs removing the old units. These seemed to be identical to the original parts and work well, especially after replacing the drum bearings (a much more major project, but reasonable if you are handy). Very happy with the results, the machine works like new, and the new shocks are working well.

After my poor wifey had a mishap and bruk up our Maytag 2000 washer, I was pleased to find these replacement shocks available on Amazon. This was the first time that I have ever taken the front or back off of a washing machine but I am way too frugal a bugger to overpay some bloke to repair something that I can learn how to do. Thanks to YouTube, I replaced the broken front door latch, belt, along with two broken shocks and I added a third shock in a position that was previously vacant (obviously a washer box and drum that are used for various washer models). After six months of multiple weekly use, the Maytag appliance repairman is still out of work.

Exact fit and genuine part. Relatively easy to install I just broke off old shocks with channel locks and new went in easily, took about 45 minutes as I didn’t remove back panel (since I have washer on a pedestal which makes it harder to move) and had to reach in to get at back shocks which was a little awkward.

Just installed and they work fine. They came in a bag labeled whirlpool so it look genuine. Ones with upper and lower grey plastic mounts. Install was easy once I pulled out the old broken mounts and remove the back cover to get to there back shockabsorber. Would buy again. If they give me trouble I will come back and comment.

Worked great because my washer actually only had 3 installed and there was room for 5. I thought mine where worn out but after getting these they where pretty much the same. Great quality if you actually do need new ones. Awesome to add if you have extra connection points.
