We bought this hob due to its competitive cost and clean look. It’s great. Works well, modulates energy use down very well, is very controllable, cleans easily and was super easy to install.

Good product but very noisy

Induction cooking first-timer here. I was sad to see my trusty old pots put out to pasture because they can't do the induction hustle. In case you didn't know, if the base of your existing pans are magnetic and flat, you're good to go. My old pans shrugged as I stroked each one with the magnet of destiny. No fiesta, baby. Goodbye, special frying pan; sayonara, beautiful wok. Thank you for your service. So now you gather yourself and hunt down some induction-loving pots. I got myself a six-pack bundle of granite-covered recruits. They look good, but it will take time to feel the level of affection I didn't realize I had for the old crew. I wish I'd appreciated them more; maybe flowers and a movie occasionally. I've lived with this hob for a week at the time of writing, and the smoked glass finish looks good. Turn it on, and it displays an 'L', with the child lock button needing pressing for a few seconds before you can do anything. The zones are 2x 1800W and 2x 1400W. Each zone can be used separately, or you can combine the two on the left (1800W + 1400W) for handling larger cooking surfaces. The touch slider control works well. You can slide or single-touch anywhere along it to set a level. Yes, the timer works, cutting power to the zone when done. Additionally, an 'H' illuminates to show you which zones are still hot after each use, and the fan, at least so far, hasn't been noisy for me. First testing involved using the smallest new pot boiling via each individual zone, and it failed to detect the pot on two of them. If the zone doesn't detect a pot, there is nothing to heat, so it just flashes an indicator at you while wondering what you've been drinking. After a few times of scratching my head and re-trying Homer Simpson style, it turns out that only the lower power zones (1400W) can handle the smaller pot bases. That may prove a useful tip for some people. Also, if you've lifted a pot for a bit of a shake during cooking, it'll just continue heating once the pot is back on the surface. One thing to note is how the hob applies your selected heat levels. I have no idea how more expensive hobs tackle this, but this one actually sends timed pulses of heat to the pots; the lower the setting, the longer the duration between heat, while the higher the setting, the shorter the period. So, if you watch the pot of boiling liquid you eventually set to a lower temperature, you will notice it slightly bubble every so often, rather than a constant trickling over as with a gas hob. This method does work for temperature control but appears strange at first if you haven't seen it before. I wondered if being limited to two active zones at a time might pose a problem, but the reality is I hardly ever used more than two rings on the go with the gas cooker anyway. So, no, nothing that can't be worked around on the odd occasion for me personally. After coming from gas rings, my only thing really is getting the shine on the glass surface when I'm done. Glass is unforgiving when it comes to smudges, and you tend to be more particular about it. Does the hob work? Well, yes; there is no drama, it heats the pots and cooks the food. Although my heart still pines for my old pots, my first foray into the world of induction cooking hasn't been too bad with this hob, so far. If my views change, I'll do an update.

Very easy to fit and use

A nice bit of kit for the price. Looks classy. Cooling fan is an unobtrusive hum. Controls are great with the exception of an easily activated lock button by mistake occasionally. However I wish I'd paid more for the step less heat levels and half increments on more expensive models. These cheap ones run the elements at full power all the time. So 9 is full on and 1 is full power in occasional bursts. However there are big differences in steps. So I made a curry and set it to 5 to simmer but it was too hot and spat bubbles. When reduced to 4 the power bursts a lot less frequent so much so that it didn't simmer at all. Also noticable is a very distinct and narrow hot spot in the middle. It's definitely not as wide as the indicated markings. All in all I'll get by and no real regrets but having been used to the more expensive ones I'd pay more in future for genuinely variable power and half increments. In my case 4.5 power would have worked fine.

Really good hob. Easy to fit into the space old one came out of. Good heat level and quick reaction when switched on.

Just a great buy. It works fantastic, it looks amazing and it was a great price of about 120.00ish. The cooking settings from what I can see are more then satisfactory to cook, fry, and boil anything you might do. A warning light flashed if the hob is still hots after it turns off. There is also a lock button to help prevent kids accessing the hob. All the cabling is there to connect up to the mains and packed up well for transport to your home. The manual is printed in very clear English and easy enough for anyone to read and understand, with hints and tips to cook what not at said temperature. Now I would only consider these (tips and hints) as guidelines, not the rule. You will need to experiment a bit. The only really issue I can pick a little fault with is the hob makes a little noise when running. It's the cooling fan underneath. Now most of the time (Due to having two kids, the tv on in the next room, and a wife consistent nagging me etc) I don't hear it often. But if you live in blessed silence you might hear it running. All in all, I am very happy with the product and will say my customer satisfaction is a 5/5.
