We use this for my son to encourage him to recognise when it is time to stop playing or reading and move on to the next activity of the day - he turns it over himself and watches the timer whilst knowing how long it is until he needs to stop playing.I definitely recommend this, and the price at time of review is around £12 which is good value for a quality product. Five stars rating.

This sand timer uses red sand which makes it easier to be observed even in a dim environment. The timer is also fairly accurate which is good for teenagers as the glass is encased in plastic.

We ordered the 30 minute version to see if it would help our autistic grandson manage his time as he can get hyper fixated when playing games etc and we hope this will give him a visual reference for how much screen time he has left.The timer is about the same size as a 500ml can of drink, in a nice vibrant red with ‘30 MIN’ printed on a sticker on both ends. The actual hourglass part of it is protected by a clear plastic cylinder so it should survive knocks and bumps. As far as accuracy goes, I timed it at 32 minutes.

The media could not be loaded.  We got this as we had heard from friends that they are great for helping kids learn about time and can be used as a visual aid to help them realise how long a period of time is.This arrives securely packed and i was impressed with the thought of the design. You have the standard glass vessel inside, but the outside is surrounded by plastic so it can easily handle being dropped on the floor or knocked off a table. It's also sealed at each end so no way little hands can get into it and cause a mess. The bright colour also makes it nice and easy to see. They have other timings available which are different colours which is great idea as it will help the little ones distinguish time and expectations.It is identical on each end and large enough for little hands to pick it up or just see across the room. We used it as a visual aid for our little one. Telling them in 2 minutes when all the sand goes to the bottom we can go works much better than just telling them 2 minutes.The only issue i found was the timing was a little off (see video). Good sand timer. Kids love it. It makes it easier for them to visually see the time they have left.

We got this to help our 4.5 year old set timers for special time and other tasks. I timed with it my phone and the 10 minutes are accurate. It's also quite satisfying to watch and suitable for children with sensory needs. The plastic cover is durable and it won't break easily. My daughter likes it and has been taking it with her around the house.

The children don't really pay attention when you say... 'The TV is going off in 10 minutes'.You need something visual, which shows them that impending time.This timer is good, in that it is 'child-proof' (by having a perspex cover), and has that visual property which children will instinctively understand.The orange colour and the orange sand are also nice.Accuracy... Pretty good...My 10 min hourglass timer finished in 9:57 minutes for the first test, and 10:04 minutes the second time.It's popular with us (parents). Fascinating, but not quite as popular with the children.Recommended.
