Nice read but a bit short
I found this book a nice easy read, well written and with well planned layout/plot. It doesn't have a lot of detail, or energetic highs and lows, which for me makes it quite enjoyable space opera fun. My only gripe is the length at around 150 pages long. So even though the price is quite low it's overpriced on a words per pound/dollar basis. If it was three times the length, for twice the price, like most similar books, I'd have been much happier. So I'll probably wait and see if there's any future special offers before I read any more in the series.

A Wonderful Entertaining Read
A thoroughly entertaining sci fi novel, no undue science but tons of humour, dry and wet, wonderful dubious characters with human flaws and dubious past lives now caught up in an unlikely survival in space adventure. Flaws, humorous, shady , shaky, hilarious, entertaining screwball characters and plot make thus a truly entertaining read. First of many screwball adventures seemingly. I can't wait.

Mildly Entertaining
Somewhat short but mildly entertaining. Characters are a little flat but they do the job. Plot has holes I could drive a starship through and one part is somewhat reminiscent of one of Nathan Lowell's books. However I am not sorry I read it

Left wanting a lot more
Well written, funny, likeable characters. Felt there was a lot more that could of been told about the crew and the ship. I was left feeling like 'wait thats it? ' I hope that theres a sequel that expands the story arc.

Exciting, interesting and thoroughly engaging
I picked up this series while looking for something new and couldn't put it down again. I absolutely love the science in the world it throws out the sci-fi tropes when it comes to science. Like any good action story you know the two main characters will survive, but that doesn't mean they'll survive well. The heroes are imperfect and their flaws are on full display, for good and for bad

A Different Space
I almost didn’t buy this book but am glad that I did. The story is delightfully relaxed and nevertheless keeps the pages turning.

Refreshingly fun - I needed this!
This is the first book I've read by Skyler Ramirez and I'm glad I found his work. This first book was a refreshing read, light and funny and a fun adventure. My only con first: it's short. Weighing in at 137 pages, the first book is over quickly after the characters and world are established. When I realized I was a third of the way through the book and I was still getting up to speed with the beginning of the main plot, I almost put it down. But then I saw it was a series. And that leads into the pros: It's an interesting world with interesting characters. Brad Mendoza is a lovable self-destructive buffoon, with a past he hasn’t come to terms with. He’s funny and self-depreciating, and the running narrative from his jaded perspective keeps the story moving. Jessica Lin comes off as a two dimensional Miss Perfect but I think the coming books will flesh out her character more. She’s got a past too, that will need to come to light. There’s just the right amount of world-building for a book this length and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series looks like. And I’m hoping the antagonist from the first book ends up being the villain of the series. We’ll see. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a light, clean, funny space adventure.

Really good! Well written.
I've been an avid reader my entire adult life, since the 70s. In this day of self-publishing, there's a lot of bad writing out there now that in the past never would have made it to the press. A reader often has to wade through a lot of badly written slop before finding someone who can actually write well. So I'm very happy to have recently discovered Mr. Ramirez. He knows how to write and he delivers on the promise of his titles. It's light-hearted escapism, and very, very funny. And his writing skill is excellent, a pleasure to read. I will be reading the rest of the series.

Fun
I wasn’t expecting much but I was surprised. Fun easy reading, kind of boys own adventure. Looking for easy reading on holiday then you could do a lot worse

book??
Not entirely sure why I picked up this book. Upto 59% it’s pure nonsense after which I skipped and went to rating the book.
