Overall a good book but it is lacking plenty for me
As a Mediterranean person—born and raised, still not far from the region—I was actually happy to get my hands on such a big recipe book.As I am one of those who assesses what to cook/eat based on the pictures, this was my biggest disappointment with this book: it is 'no pictures', just text.Secondly, although there are plenty of good recipes that have a spark of Mediterranean influence, I was surprised to see very interesting inclusions too. After all, the Mediterranean diet is all about local food, and there is not much locality with TOFU, OLD DELHI BUTTER CHICKEN, ASIAN FIVE-SPICE WINGS, SOUTH INDIAN FRIED FISH, or HOT GOAN STYLE COCONUT CHICKEN. Don't get me wrong, they are fine recipes as they are, but they have no place in the Mediterranean diet due to the spice caliber and the way they are prepared. Similar to the 'cinnamon' in kebabs, this is just ridiculus. I am not going to go over all the recipes that gave me chuckles, but I guess you get the point.This is just another cookbook that feels like it was written by AI. That is all I am saying.

The author, Kimberly Bains, presents the Mediterranean diet as a rich heritage of wholesome, flavorful foods with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and olive oil for a delicious and sustainable approach to eating that promotes heart health and longevity!And what a marvelous variety of recipes and ingredients is presented indeed! (Also really appreciated the conversion table, which makes these recipes truly accessible to everyone, or rather, every location.)Super well organized for easy reference according to your planning or inclination in separate chapters for beans and grains, fish and seafood, poultry, beef, pork and lamb, vegetable sides, vegetable mains, salads, deserts pastas, sauces and dips and snacks and appetizers.I’ve put together a selection of the meal plans to shop for and have to say I am looking forward – feeling vibrant at the mere thought of partaking in such a delicious array of healthy, hearty foods.
