Having recently decorated my lounge, I was looking for a speaker solution that would compliment the new decor. That's when I found the Filo from In2uit. According to the blurb, it's a world first - a new style of speaker that works usuing Electrostatz Technology. (For those of you out there who are not a tekkie, which I am not, it basically means that the speaker is made up of 2 plates which vibrate rapidly to create a sound).The benefits of using Electrostatz Technology means that no magnets, mechanical parts or large casing is required as it would be in a standard speaker. This is why the Filo is able to be so slim and astetically pleasing. The sleek design of the Filo speaker is almost representative of a peice of art, rather than a practicle and functional peice of technology, perfect for the modern home (It comes in 3 different colours grey, red or blue). With it's unique and subtle curl design, the Filo can stand alone on a table top or sideboard by using the flip stand attached to the back. However, it can also be wall mounted by utilising the mounting bracket and screws that come in the pack.The Filo can be wired to your device using the 3.5mm input on the back, but also has built in Bluetooth technology (A2DP) which allows full stereo music and audio streaming. The speaker can be paired with most bluetooth enabled device e.g. your mobile, tablet or MP3 player. The Filo has a fully rechargeable Li-on battery, which once fully charged (takes about 3 hours to fully charge) can play music for around 10 hours. So not only does this product look amazing in your lounge but it can sound amazing at your BBQ as well!The sleek and ultra-slim design (approximate size 442mm w x 183mm h x 60mm d) does not affect the sound quality of this beautiful speaker. It has an overall output of 7.5w, made up of 3 x 2.5w output. It has a built in woofer to enhance the sound and hi-fidelity quality which allows you to appreciate a wide genre of music via the speaker. To optimise the sound quality the speaker should be around 3cm away from any wall when mounted , but equally when free standing it should have a hard surface behind to increase the sound. The technology means that the sound will be the same regardless of where you are standing in relation to the speaker. One thing that did confuse me was the lack of volume control. The volume is controlled from the device which is paired and not from the speaker (I did spend sometime looking for the volume buttons!)Pairing the device is very easy. There is only one button - the power button, which is located in the curve at the front of the Filo. To pair your device to the FIlo you simply push and hold the power button for 2 seconds and the hidden LED light located at the top of the speaker will start to flash blue and red rapidly. This means the speaker is now in pairing mode. You then search for bluetooth devices on your music device, the words "In2uit Filo" will appear, so select to pair. A quick press of the power button turns the speaker off - however, the device will power off automatically if left unused for more than 10 minutes, which is a nice feature.The experience of unpacking the Filo speaker was amazing, the detailing on the packaging was fantastic, with hints and pointers on each seperate peice of the boxing. One frustrtaion was the lack of instruction manual, which you do have to go and download from the In2uit web-site. However, there was a quick start guide which made using the product quick and easy, it even came with charge ready to go.I love this product, the look and feel, the fact that due to the design it doesn't attract dust as a normal speaker would (Such a girly comment - apologies!) the sound is fantastic, it's so easy to use, it's practical and it's different.

Life’s all about being in the right place at the right time, right? A friend of mine was recently upgrading her sound system at home and had decided to part with her In2uit Filo Speaker. All I can say is her loss was most certainly my gain. I graciously accepted her “hand me down”, not knowing just how lucky I was.In the meantime, I have had the opportunity to test drive the Filo and have to say I am really impressed with both the design and sound quality.Design:Unlike most speakers of this size, the Filo is wonderfully elegant. Thanks to its stunning design it looks good in just about any room. I have the grey speaker, but there are other, more funky colours available if you’re looking for something a little different.Technology:In case you are wondering, as I did, how a speaker so slim can produce a decent sound, there is a simple explanation. The Filo uses Electrostatic Technology (i.e. sound is generated by the force exerted on a membrane suspended in an electrostatic field). I have gone into sound quality in more detail below.Versatility:The Filo is extremely versatile and can either be stood on a hard surface or wall mounted (mounting bracket and screws are supplied – all you need are the appropriate tools!). Because it is so sleek and slim (with a depth of just 62mm) it will fit just about anywhere, though to gain the best possible sound quality it should be placed in front of a hard surface – for example, we have it standing on a sideboard, just a little way away from the wall. A little integrated stand can be pulled out for extra stability.Connectivity:As far as connectivity is concerned the Filo is, strictly speaking, a portable Bluetooth speaker with A2DP technology for wireless audio streaming. It can be paired with any Bluetooth enabled device – e.g. iPhone, iPad, smartphone, tablet or mp3 player. Pairing only takes a minute. Simply push and hold the power button near the top of the speaker for a couple of seconds. The little LED will start to flash blue and red. Search for the Filo on your device, select and pair. Done.If you do want to connect to a device that doesn’t support Bluetooth technology, simply connect via the 3,5mm audio port on the rear of the speaker.The great advantage of the Bluetooth connectivity is that the speaker can be wall mounted and controlled from your device (perfect if you have small children with inquisitive minds!!!). Incidentally, there are no buttons (apart from the power button) on the speaker itself. So volume and track control take place from your device.Portability:The Filo is kitted out with a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, which offers up to 10 hours of playtime. This, along with the fact that it is super light and slim, means that it is perfect for taking along to friends, parties etc.Sound Quality:I was really impressed with the sound quality, thinking the speaker was way to “elegant” to produce a decent sound. Highs, trebles and bass are well balanced and vocals are really clear. We listen to anything from classic rock to indie to classical, and it all sounded fantastic. If you’re more of a drum n bass lover, this probably isn’t the speaker for you.All in all, if you are looking for a sensational speaker that offers contemporary design with state-of-the-art technology then I highly recommend the Filo.

The media could not be loaded.  The Filo Wireless speaker looks sexy, thin and light, it is very easy to carry around if you want to (transport) and it would compliment any lounge design very nicely with variety of colours available also. The sound quality is surprisingly good, with good sound throughout the range. The bass and treble sounds great with no crackling or interference over bluetooth connectivity.the battery life is also as expected and you can also connect via aux input on the back. The only thing lacking if controls on the device itself but that would defeat the simplistic and clean looks.
