The Eco Option
I’ve been drinking more Aeropress lately and wanted to replace the paper filters with a metal one. The fineness of this filter is great for making sure very little fines get through to my coffee. Further, it’s super easy to clean and helps me know I’m doing my part in keeping paper filters out of the landfill.

Works well depending on your grind
I typically use a YRP Prismo filter and pressure cap but also wanted a metal filter to use in the original Aeropress cap. This filter is a bit smaller than the paper filters, but it is still wide enough to function. The particle filtration is less efficient than my other metal filter (and obviously less than a paper filter) but I don't mind a bit of sediment in my coffee. Compared to paper, the oils and fines allowed to pass through the filter improve the flavor of the coffee for me. I always use the inverted method with the original cap, so the increased flow compared to paper doesn’t affect me. Using this metal filter along with a paper filter makes no sense, so skip it if you use a fine grind or want the oil filtered.

Pair it with paper filters for a smoother coffee
Makes a great cup of coffee using the standard (not the XL) Aeropress system.Used by itself, this filter allows more coffee fines into the final drink, which some people appreciate more than others.I have found that using a paper filter along with this metal filter produces a smoother-tasting coffee, since more of the fines are filtered out. And, discarding the used grounds is simpler & neater when using a disposable paper filter. However, brewing with ONLY the metal filter still works well, if a slightly COARSER grind of coffee bean is used. Just don’t accidentally throw your metal filter away when emptying the used coffee grounds! In addition to this metal filter, though, I’m also using an optional AeroPress FLOW CONTROL FILTER CAP with my original Aeropress system. I no longer need to perform the “inverted-method” of coffee brewing (which entails turning everything upside-down, and risking drips; or even a full spill!). This also means that I can stir & brew for as long as I wish, before actually pressing down the plunger, in order to produce a REALLY strong cup of coffee for myself. Sort of like a mini-French Press! This metal filter screen is not totally necessary to produce a good cup of Aeropress coffee; but it’s easy to use, easy to clean, and works well; with or without an additional paper filter.

Very good stainless filter
Works just as I had hoped. Allows a bit more coffee through but not so much that it's gritty or bitter. A bit messier than using the paper filters of course, but that'll be the same with any reusable filter.Handy to try a little different style cup of coffee and good as a just in case filter should I run out of or forget the paper filters.

Not the tightest weave
The Xinafan Reusable Coffee Filter for AeroPress Coffee is intended to be used as a replacement to the paper filters that are used with the AeroPress. This fits the regular AeroPress well. It seemed to let more coffee ground through which produced a much weaker coffee. It is made of stainless steel but the weave is too porous.I wanted to get out of using paper but found that this combined with the paper gave a much stronger coffee. The use of paper is helpful in the cleanup process and the paper gets recycled with the coffee ground.
