Great overall sound quality. LOUD.
I play my Bass pretty frequently. No, I'm not a pro, nor do I gig at all. Just casual play for about an hour a day. Obviously as a Bass player I enjoy the rich bottoms of a good speaker. I have quite a few Bose products other than the S1. Smaller speakers and a few sets of headphones. I've always enjoyed the quality and balance of the Bose brand. The S1 didn't let me down. For what it is, it delivers. Built solid with great ability to transport. I use it wirelessly with some NUX B-5RC wireless transmitter and receiver system. No dropout, no distinguishable lag or delay, no interference. Literally nothing to complain about, for what it is. I added the backpack as well, which is perfect since I enjoy taking my instrument on the road, wherever I go. It's not heavy or bulky and it has plenty of nice features for the novice that wants to sound like a pro. The bottoms are probably not going to be enough for someone who gigs in challenging acoustic venues but it will do in just about any other situation. This will suffice in a small bar or lounge or more intimate settings. Very clear and clean highs when I used the Bluetooth feature for just listening to a playlist on my phone. If you want to buy a nice backyard speaker, this is it. It kicks but it lacks for the big thump. But I'm a Bass player, so there can never be to much thump for me. I highly recommend.

Outstanding versatile speaker!
I bought it for home karaoke and general use. I was so impressed from the first use. Voice sounds so clear and tone match function is superb! Sounds is just right, balanced with impressive dynamic range (low end starts at 35Hz), it is clearly optimized for vocals - astonishingly precise midrange. Very portable, good battery life and fast charging. Youtube karaoke has never been easier. Have a party at home bring it to friends house. I also used it outdoors in the yard for bday party and it sounded so professional, I got inquires about it from friends. I believe there is nothing like this on the market right now, this is a perfect family party speaker; never thought I’d say this but it could be the first underpriced Bose product ever. I only have two negatives to point out: 1) Mic volume when using wired mics (I use Shure SM58) is not loud enough even at the highest settings - okay for low key not for serious karaoke. When I plugged it my Shure wireless receiver and used it with wireless mics - it was much, much louder. The second negative is that I wish the speaker had a usb or any other power outlet port so I could make it completely wireless by powering my Shure receiver. Overall, I highly recommend this for family use even if you only use mic function occasionally. Forgot to mention, that this speaker has superb built-in mixer; even my Yamaha mixer has nothing like ToneMatch function.

You'll pay for this, but you will get spectacular sound
I have a two good Behringer speakers and a great mixer with many features. I play keyboard and sing. So I'm testing this out thinking.. do I need to bring my mixer along so the voice sounds better? The S1 carried my keyboard left hand bass very well. Better than my Behringers. But at first I thought the voice sounded muffled through the S1. Then I realized there is a little switch that you flip for microphones. Once I did that I was amazed that NO I will not need to bring my rather big mixer to make the voice sound better because Bose had it all figured out, once again. I am thrilled that a 15 pound speaker is really all I need, along with my headset mic and synthesizer. This is not cheap, so you are paying for convenience and sound quality in one small package. But it's worth it. Bravo Bose!

Bose got this right!
As a traveling musician I have to say I'm impressed with this product. Now, I've been a fan of Bose for a long time and have several Bose systems.... L1 M1, 3 L1 M2's, The Compact (Which I sent back because I didn't like), and now three of these S1 pro's. Man I dig these so much! They sound great and louder than one might think due to their size. They are so portable and light to carry. I have used one and now using three for bigger gigs and or gigs with other musicians and singers. For me I like bigger fuller sound and plenty of head room so I set one behind me with a B2 then one in front for monitor. I run an outboard mixer because I use Guitar and kickbox so I need more channels. I sold my L1 M2 to purchase six of these. I picked up six because again for outdoor events where I'm running 3 vocals, 3 gutars (bass), and kickbox I want allot of sound. However I have done an outdoor gig with just guitar and vocal only using one and and people could hear well a half a football field away. Just saying. Anyway I dig this Bose product! And I haven't even mentioned the Bluetooth option... Love that as well. It's great to have it hooked up and be able to hit background music between sets seamlessly. I also like that through Bose connect app I can run two at a time for stereo music. Oh and if you're stacking two to a side for bigger events simply line out with short cable and boom... you're Djing.

My pa for the last year
I bought this little guy because I needed a PA system that I could fly with. I’m a puppeteer and I perform for children’s audiences. My audience sizes range from 60 to 400 kids at a time. It worked so well that now I use it for all my performances even the ones I’m not flying to. I perform 4-6 shows every week and used to use a Fender Passport 150. The fender is fine (the more recent models have gotten a bit cheap) but the Bose does a better job and is so much easier to set up. I like that it leans back so the noise isn’t blasting into the face of my young audiences. The single speaker does a nice job spreading the sound. I’ve had this little sucker for just over a year now and I’d say it’s worth the Bose pricey price tag for the durability and the sound quality. I can’t speak to the battery life as I always plug it in.I got the Bose backpack to carry it around and to give a little bit of protection to it from nicks and dents since I use it multiple times every week.
