This a lock bypass tool with a "shove knife" on one end and a tapered end to bypass a latch (even with a latch guard). I have personally used one of these to get a door open after a janitor locked keys inside. The angled shape enhances versatility, enabling easier navigation around door frames and hardware. I've used various plastic sheets as a simple bypass tool in the past, which are very helpful for some doors with very high tolerance, but for the most part it just ends up wrecking the plastic sheet. It's certainly a good trade to solve a lockout at the cost of a plastic sheet, but this metal tool is so much more durable. At least half of those sheets could have been saved using a tool like this instead. It's a bit large, but that also makes it fast and easy to use. Love it.

I received the CHAOS branded fire pick which Amazon is telling me is a different product although I suspect the company is the same as there's no difference except some paint here. The pick is a standard thin metal L, and you want gloves when you're using it.It shipped in a manilla style mailer and had 3 plastic pieces to keep it from poking through the mailer and honestly those really need to be incorporated or sticky for my needs. Your needs may vary. As it stands it's a nice poke yourself hard by accident tool and I think I'll probably put it back into the envelope with the 3 plastic edges to prevent it from rupturing me.I do not have any uses with this, but will update when I do. Feels a little thinner than I have used in the past.

This unit QUICKLY and I mean QUICKLY does its job. This has been the best tool I have reviewed. If you are locked out of your house this is an awesome tool to gain entry. It’s perfect.

The tools is a good balance between being too thick and heavy and still being robust. You're not going to use this everyday, but you want it to work when you need to. There are a lot of ways to use it, so just look at a couple of videos and you'll see how it works. Great to have in the vehicle emergency kit or for any first responder who might need to gain access in a hurry.
