Magic
(Hair- medium length and thickness, no blow drying) I used this product as a post style on my dry hair without blow drying and it works wonders. I have finally found what I've been looking for all these years. Unlike any clay/wax/paste that I have tried, this matte paste feels creamy and smooth in your hands but as soon as it touches your hair it freezes up insanely fast and hardens giving my medium length hair a very strong hold and structure for as long as it's in my hair. Better than any vilain created product out there in my opinion. I have tried all of them so thats just my way of comparing. Very smooth application but only after a minute, due to it hardening in my hair, it is difficult to restyle or manipulate (which is a good thing imo).

Best Paste I've Used
Smells incredible, holds firm, the matte is quite nice.Only negative would be that the product is extremely tacky even after an overnight in the hair. This could be a positive though, since if you need to reform later in the day you certainly could!

Extremely hard
I ordered the Matte Clay and the product is extremely hard, making it extremely difficult to use. I had to scrape the product out with my fingernail. That was the only way I could get into it of the container. Not easy to use, and even more difficult to actually put in your hair. Maybe I'm missing something? This is not for me.

Not the same
Barber turned me onto this product a few years ago and have been buying religiously since, but this last time it seems like it's changed. Still has its mild scent and does wash out quite well. Texture of the product in hair is nice and has a strong hold (almost like a combination between clay & pomade) without leaving a wet or greasy look.Unfortunately, this last round of product doesn't have quite the same consistency as what I have had numerous times before and honestly, not a fan of the new packaging either (used to be very upscale high end barber like, now is more cartoonish). Hold is still good, though the workability of the product is different and almost needs a bit of water to loosen up some. Note sure what changed, and still on the fence as to whether or not I'll continue using. Honestly, disappointed with this last round because this stuff used to be great.

GOATED POMADE
I've been using product in my hair since I was a child. Since then, I've tried countless products to hold my hair and I couldn't quite get it right until I stumbled into a men's products boutique shop. This product is the holy grail to tame my hair. I been meaning to write this review for years.I have curly/wavy and sometimes frizzy hair. It took me a long time (and the industry) to get a product that can handle the straighter styles. I don't have dense hair, so shine holds don't look good unless my hair is long. This product is quick and straight forward depending on your hair length and the moisture/dampness in your hair. I have never needed to use a hair dryer. This is a plus when getting ready to go work or go out.I strongly recommend this product to people who have hair like mine or like matte finishes with strong holds. Currently, because my hair is about 7 inches long, I use a light layer of this starting from the back and use a different strong holding pomade (js sloane) to do a slick back on the top. Then I do the sides with this lockhart's again to keep it really tight. Super essential, and if I cut my hair soon, I'll probably only use this and the occasional hairspray. The only "downsides" is that it does kind of expire and it doesn't have a delicious. Once it loses it's creamy texture and has a bit of rust color, I would suggest getting a new tin. This has only happened to me in tins from over a year, but I generally go through these in 2-4 months (I keep a spare for travel). I prefer a product that shows signs of expiration, instead of staling up like a big mac on the floor.100% recommend, stop using the same products that only kind of work for you and your hair and try this out. If you can find a store with this in it, even better because I feel the pain of ordering online without actually touching it. One of those products that I can't go without. Big ups lockharts

Best Hair Products in the World
Lockharts ALWAYS brings the heat. This is my favorite product below the matte clay. This has a great texture, super great smell, and it has the right amount of hold. It also washes out really easily. You can throw this in wet or dry and get great results. These folks make the best hair products IMO. And as a Michigander, it feels greay supporting a local business. You won't find a better value for the money.

Did their formula change, or is it poor storage from Amazon?
I've been buying this paste for years since it came out.The last one I received is more liquidly than usual, it feels different. When I applied this to my hair, there was barely any volume and I found it more difficult to style my hair than usual. I'll intend to buy from Lockhart's website directly in hopes of a better batch. Be wary of buying this off Amazon, since we don't know if they're storing it incorrectly vs directly from Lockhart.

My new go-to
Hold: 4/5Texture: 5/5Control: 5/5Volume: 4.5/5Malleability: 5/5Wash out: 5/5I have thick, straight flat, Asian hair. The look I go for a is fingercombed loose undercut waved to the side/back. Sides and back of the head I usually get a skin taper than fades mid-high into a 1-2. It's the consistency of toothpaste, but once emulsified it "grips" and allows for very nice control. The volume at onset is pretty impressive and this is without a hair dryer. I lose that volume after a couple hours but thats to be expect with my hairtype.I've tried many clays, fibers, and clays pomade searching for the right balance (i.e. Baxters, Blind Barber 90 Proof, Fibergrease, Bryrd Matte, Shear Revival, Suavicito premium, Layrite Cement, Bearded Bastard, Anchors, Admirals Clay, Bluuman Cavalier Clay, Star Pro, etc). This does everything I've wanted. The right balance of hold, control, malleability, easy washout, at a great price. This outdoes its more expensive competition.
