Simple and Effective.
I bought this and the first one I received did not work but the supplier, A-21, replaced it immediately with one that did. I chose this model so as to leave my hot shoe free for triggering remote flash such as studio soft-boxes for portraits. This allows a more informal stance with the subject, rather than having to stand with a finger on the shutter button.

Very poor description
This is not built for the Sony a7 as per the description. Although it will take photographs the connection isn't the same as the Sony cable that plugs into the multi port. To use this cable for prolonged periods would only result in causing damage to the port on the camera.

Great product at the price.
This arrived two days before the expected date. I love it. It does exactly what it says on the tin. For me, taking wildlife shots this is ideal and the cable length about right. If however you are looking at using your camera remotely for say a group shot at a wedding , christening etc....you would definitely need a longer cable to be in the photo yourself. Also it is a nice size in the hand, and easily stored in the pocket of a camera bag.

Just what I needed
The construction may not seem completely solid, but for the price I didn't expect it to be.This product connects to your camera via its micro USB port (I used it with my Sony A6000); from here you can half press the button for focusing, then press it down fully to take the photo.If you're on BULB mode, when you fully press the shutter button down, you can then slide it up to lock it into place.My Sony camera relies on having its record button pressed to start recording, even in video mode, so unfortunately this will not work in that regard, it's just for taking photos.So, if you want a wired remote to allow you to take photos, then this is perfect.For the price, I couldn't ask for more.

Simple, effective
Works with Sony a5100. Simple use, half depress for focus, full depress to snap, full depress plus slide up to lock (For Bulb mode). For the price i couldn't ask for more.

Extend cable length DIY
Works with SONY HX50. The length of cable is not really long enough. I used some cat5 plugs and cut the cable half way through. There are 3 wires red/yellow/white. Crimped on to two RJ45 plugs with the wires in the same position on each. This allowed an RJ45 coupler to go on each end of the divided cable and any length of Cat5 cable in between. Tested and works over at least 20 feet.NB the longer the cable the more chance there is for the signal to be weak and, therefore, work intermittently.
