Used this for my pitch and it went really well
I read this book specifically because I had to a story pitch. I didn't just get it out general interest. I used all the methods outlined in this book to design my pitch, practice my pitch and deliver my pitch. The pitch went really well. Not only did I use the elements of story pitch with my script, but I used it with my business to pitch my products/services to clients. It's a short little guide. I read it in one sitting. I didn't have to read it from beginnging to end. I jumped around. I eventually read the whole book, but it's a nice guide that you can pick up and choose what will work for you.You can read the table of contents to know what's in it, but here are the areas that worked best for me. The 10 questions you should answer before starting your pitch was helpful because it helped sum up the whole story and get to the points that would grab at the soul of the listener. Those questions really help connect your story. Hauge also has templates for different genres that you can use as a guide. These were really helpful. I didn't use them word for word, but it was nice to be guided from beginning to end of the pitch. I was much more confident in my pitch and knowing what I was going to say really allowed the nerves to settle and the passion to come through. I have to recommend this book 100% for any type of pitching. The kindle edition has some funky things going on with the print. Some letters are cut off and words are pushed together. This didn't make it difficult to read and it does not happen enough, but be aware of that issue.

60 second pitch
I just finished reading this book and wrote my 1st pitch. I'll be attending a writer's conference in the fall and wanted some information on how to present the book I've been writing for 2 years. Michael Hauge's writing style is simple and concise. While reading this, I felt like he was sitting next to me and coaching me. He writes the way someone speaks, full of examples and stories that make the topic even more interesting. His writing flows like conversation. Let's face it, we all want to be published and in this world it's harder than ever. Take every opportunity you can find to make sure you make it into print or on the screen. This book is a good 1st step.I checked Michael's website and he offers a lot of services for scriptwriters and other types of writing. If you're writing a book, he can help with that too. I'd like to hire him as a writing coach but the $1,500 price tag is out of my league. If you can afford it, I'd recommend your contacting him. I used the template he wrote in the book to design my pitch. I have a critique group which helps me to hone my wriitng even more.Buy this book. You'll be amazed at how much you'll learn, not just about writing but about the publishing industry as well. This is a small price to pay for a great deal of knowledge. Master Teacher on Difficult Topic
Over the decades that Michael Hauge has spent working in the writing world, he has gained one simple quality, a quality frequently underplayed by both writers and the publishers they want to reach: A real love for writers and writing. In contrast to the art of writing, which is the real "work" of writers, the task of pitching -- or "selling," to use the word in the title of this book -- often feels like the writer's bane, the writer's antithesis. In this book, Hauge really takes the sting out of it. Yes, Hauge gives you decisive advice on exactly how to pitch, and how to pitch quickly and passionately. And yes, even saying the word "passion" along with "pitch" sounds fake sometime. To be sure, Hauge doesn't downplay the seriousness of the professional world. But as he writes, he can't help but radiate warmth and tenderness for you, the creative person, the writer. It seems like an unusual topic to be warm and tender about, so please understand, Hauge doesn't gush about his love for you here; this is not a love poem. He wants you to start talking up your story, and to do it well, and quickly. But he also loves you for doing it. It's an unusual pleasure in a book like this.

Solves a big problem, surprisingly good
I've always been a big fan of "How To" books, especially ones like "Shaking the Money Tree" and "Writing Down the Bones," where a highly accomplished professional shares insider tricks and tips that I am able to use to solve a pressing problem.Well, I recently had to pitch an idea for a new book. The subject (Citizen Journalism) was new for me, and I didn't know how to communicate my passion for the book and the importance of the subject. Then a friend told me about "Selling Your Story In 60 Seconds." I read the book in one afternoon, and using what I'd learned was able to pitch the idea successfully, four days later."Selling Your Story in 60 Seconds" is surprisingly well written and easy to read. Whether you are pitching a book, a script, or pitching an idea during fund raising--this book is essential.

Selling your story in 60 seconds
Michael Hauge provides the reader with numerous tips and snippets of advice on the art of pitching your story. Particularly useful is the collection of views on pitching story, all written by seasoned industry experts, all providing their unique take on the 'Do's andDon'ts' of pitching. The book is reasonably priced, an easy read and slim enough to be digestible for those short on time.Hauge's enthusiasm for his subject matter shines throughout the book, Although if I am to be critical it would be towards the rather mediocre films he uses as examples of good practice (mainly Hollywood buddy movies or tried and tested rom-com formulas), but this small niggle aside, 'Selling your story in 60 seconds' is a handy, compact go to book - on the art of the quick pitch. I recommend it to all you screen-play writers out there.

Great advice
I wasn't keen on the book at first, but warmed up to it as I read it. By the end I felt I could really recommend it. It will definitely improve the quality of my pitches. Hauge really does know what he's talking about. There's also a really great section at the back with opinion from a couple of dozen experts who've taken pitches on a professional basis.

The best book I've ever bought on the subject
You'll discover that it's not the script/book or screenplay which will make you rich - it's the pitch. The pitch to get someone to read your work - all in 60 seconds.
