Great for cupeling Gold and Silver
I use Bismuth instead of lead to cupel precious metals. Its non-toxic and wont kill ya or poison the environment. It's a win/win situation.

Excellent quality and amount of material
We melted these down to form crystals with great success. The material was pure and the process was simple. One word for anyone doing the same, however - you'll need eight ingots or so to get the depth in the melting container sufficient for crystal formation. That amount to close to $100 in material, and you'll get approximately six small crystals. So if you're looking for a DIY project that is really fun, go for it. If you just want the crystals, buy the crystals and not the raw material.By the way, the leftover material from making the crystals pours easily into all manner of molds, so you can make some neat stuff that will get the same rainbow-colored sheen. Don't just throw it away - it's easy to work with.

Like a box of chocolates
I've purchased this product twice. I've had a lot of fun melting it down to create those highy desirable crystals! I'm not sure what happened with the second batch I ordered though, but for some reason, I couldn't get the crystals to form as I was able to do with the first batch. Made in temperature controlled area, and I had followed the same steps, with the same, cleaned equipment I had used when I made crystals the first batch. I'm no sure if there was something wrong with the bismuth the second time around, or it was something I did. It was a little frustrating and dissapointing. But nonetheless, I will purchase again and give it another go.

Great product
I ordered and recieved Bismuth within two days! Very quick turn around. And the metal is very fun to experiment with. I would advise ordered more than a pound because the crystals form better with more volume. The slower you allow the metal to cool the better your results will be. You can also use wire to root the crystals onto it. Most craft wires have a higher melting point than bismuth. I am getting more metal from you guys. Thank you for such a speedy turn around!

I'm no expert
It's a heavy rock and shiny. Looks like bismuth. Won't know until I melt it down I guess lol.

Shiny brittle chunks of metal.
Received 1.16 pounds of Shiny brittle chunks of metal, and several free hammer dents for added character. I love my new pieces of metal and I don't know why. Had I known my purchase would lead to an international incident and ignite the Bismuth wars, I would have never placed the order.I agree with the other reviewer who stated "It is hard to rate an element. Its just bismuth. If you want bismuth here it is. A lump of bismuth this is." Very Eloquent. I could not have put it better, even if I had wanted to invest thought in my review.

does what it's supposed to
I don't know whate else to say but it melts just like it is supposed to . I casted this a little it was awesome I mixed it with other metals I made rings I did a litel bit of chemistry it's pure just remember that bismuth is not a strong metal so don't make jewelry out of it the rings I made were just for fun and were melted down
