Taming Violet: A Curvy Girl Age Gap Taboo Romance (Sinful Secrets) (The Sinful Secrets Series)

surprisingly emotional
I started reading for the taboo dynamic but continued reading, pleasantly surprised at how deeply emotional this was. There’s a lot to unpack here: lost love, guilt, wanting to belong, what makes a real family, old grudges, dark secrets, forbidden (sort of) attraction, sizzling chemistry, and more. This did not disappoint: the tension leading up to the spicy scenes as well as the scenes themselves were pretty delicious. Kane is everything you could want in a hot, chiseled, broody, protective, passionate book boyfriend. Violet was an interesting character to read as well; lost and looking to belong, knowing what she wants and going for it, bold one moment and shy the next. It’s going to take awhile to get these two and their journey out of my head.

Really good
I really enjoy this story of Kane and Violet. The story had many twists and turns that made it so hard to put down. I would absolutely recommend this one.

Enjoyed it
The age gap trope was so intriguing, it gave me Credence vibes without the why choose. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs, the relationship dynamic of the main characters was a little strange, mainly because the MMC would remember the FMC mother all the time. The plot itself was interesting, the way the story flowed was really easy and the suspense was really good, some parts I was really surprised!! My main problem I think was the relationship between the main characters, it just didn’t seem healthy, I mean the ghost of the FMC mother was always around with the MMC guilt. The ending was really sweet, I was so happy for them! Overall, it was an easy and palpitating story.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not so taboo
I hadn’t read from this author before, so I had no expectations coming into it. I will say that if you’ve read Creedence, then this book is so mild you would be disappointed with all of the “taboo” chat. He is not her father, step father, nada. He’s just a guy who met a girl 19 years ago, he loved her, spent two tours in Iran, came back and she was pregnant. The story develops from a there and i really liked how it all unfolded. I don’t think the book was too long or short; just right to develop characters and relationships. I thought the book was very well written and I would read from this author again. I read this book in less than six hours and not a minute was wasted.

Taming Vi
Kane is literally a daddy. I loved Violet she was bratty and ambitious. At first I was like no no way. Kane is still in love with her mum. Then I was like mmm Violet will win him over and then the twins and I was like ohh shoot get it girl then I found out who they are and I wanted to puke. Lol literally giving me all the emotional damage and then putting me back 🙃

A Real Page Turner
Taming Violet is a story where everything that happens in the dark comes to the light. I enjoyed reading Violet’s and Kane’s story.

3.5 Crazy Stars
I knew I was in for an OTT emotional and probably dramatic read, but still didn't see all the twists and turns coming.Violet and Kane have a complicated relationship and with it comes a tidal wave of complicated emotions, confessions, secrets and revelations that threaten to break their bond and ruin any chance at a future together.I loved Kane and Violet, they were two jagged pieces that come together perfectly. When they're together, it was a beautiful love story. It was the outside world that kept intruding and tearing them apart.I could not sympathize with Ali. At. All. When the truth is finally revealed about what really happened 18 years ago and Ali's actions that led to that fateful night, I was pissed! Talk about a chain reaction that splintered so many people's lives! And all for the weakest reasoning. There is a lot of grief, anger, guilt and forgiveness that both MCs have to overcome to finally shed the past and claim their future but in the end, it was all worth it.Loved Violet and totally understood her need to step out of her mother's long shadow. She didn't give up on Kane and fought for her chance to love him. She goes through a slight TSTL phase but with her background her knee jerk reaction makes sense. Didn't love it but I get where she was coming from. As someone who doesn't easily forgive a betrayal, I freakin hated the Bennets. Gavin, Gareth and even Jesse and Jack. Sorry but there is nothing redeemable about these characters and Violet's easy acceptance of their treatment of her was a little baffling, TBH.Was it a little soap-opera-ey? Yes, but I was still hooked on all the drama and the suspense of it all. Can't wait to read Dom and Poppy's story next.Shane and Lilly were great supporting characters with their own story going on. In keeping with the taboo theme, Shane and Lilly's story is gonna be a drama filled adventure. Not only is Lilly Kane's ex and Shane, Kane's best friend. Shane was also married to Lilly's older sister. It's a little too much of a small world for me.I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Daddy Kane
Okay, so this book is kind of like when you have a love/hate relationship with someone. That’s how I felt about this book. There were many elements that I loved, but then there were also many elements that I hated.I was really loving the vibe I got from the FMC, and how she was written to be a strong, independant, intelligent and street smart. But at a certain point in the book, I felt as if she was no longer any of these things. And that made me very frustrated. Now, is that the definition of a really good book, I don’t know, but I can say it did bring some strong ‘aaaaah’ moments out of me. So I let you all decide what you think of that. What I would like to say, is I enjoyed the book for the most part of it, but I feel there was a significant chunk of the storyline that if it was not in the book, I would have liked it more. And yes this would have probably made it a lot shorter, but I think in my opinion it would have made it better for me at least.Because I thought it had all the ingredients of an amazing book, from the taboo element, too the age gap, mum’s ex-boyfriend, mixed in with some great spicy scenes. Is it worth your read, yes. But be prepared to get frustrated. And I don’t say that in a light way, I mean kudos to the author for making me feel like that towards a fictional character.
