Great little head unit! I bought this for my daughter's 2011 Camry XLE. It's a relatively new model so I'm not surprised there will be some mixed reviews out there. I did not buy the wiring harness, adapter kits or the iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module, (I bought them elsewhere) The initial setup with the iDatalink was a bit of a process and getting all the correct cables hooked up was also a chore but once everything was setup, it worked like a charm. My daughter loves all the features, Apple Car Play, GPS (off phone) and all the apps available. I was impressed with the quick screen response and the crispness of the display. Thinking about getting one for my truck.

Nice radio in many ways. But one of my requirements was to be able to use this with steering wheel controls. This unit is advertised as being compatible with steering wheel controls, and this is also printed clearly on the box it came in. Unfortunately, there is no mention of how to enable this feature in the directions. Nor is there any additional information on the Pioneer website. I called the number for technical support, but they refused to offer any information. They stated that they could only help professional installers. I called several times, pointing out that the unit is advertised to work with steering wheel controls, and it is sold directly to consumers, as opposed to only being available to installers, but Pioneer refused to help. I asked if there was any technical documentation or noted they could send me and I would figure it out on my own, they refused. I understand that it would have been likely that I needed to buy an adapter or additional interface, but again they would give me no information. I thought Pioneer was a good company, but obviously this was incorrect. I would strongly advise buying another brand that is transparent in their advertising and offers technical support to customers. The game of “our product has this feature!” And then “We can’t tell you how to enable that feature, it’s a secret” is not okay.

Opened the box to find there were no mounting brackets/hardware for install. Also not a doubledin stereo. It’s a single din. Other than that, worked pretty good.

Great product

The base deck functions are great; it sounds great and integrates with anything you throw at it. The main point of contention is the wireless carplay doesn't work; neither does the Android version. I have an iPhone 15, which is supposed to be more than enough, but it just doesn't have the throughput to sustain a solid connection; it will work for a few minutes, but any hiccup in cell service or any high data requirement for data update and it disconnects. When plugged in through the USB, it is flawless. For wireless, you have to disable carplay and just use wireless audio; in that mode, it works great. The whole point was wireless carplay; I would have just gotten the cheaper deck if I knew how workless it was.

As others have said, a large amount of these units were not identified to iDatalink. This means that if you try to use it with the Maestro Controls (the thing you need to have steering wheel controls) it will brick the unit. Pioneer Claims ignorance, and has forced me to do 3 returns. They do not pay for shipping. If you get lucky and do get one with a serial number they did send to iDatalink it will work. However if you do not get one with a reported serial number the unit will brick on the first boot up.HIGHLY RECCOMEND you do not buy this unit.

Love the wireless Carplay on this unit. Works great in Lexus RX350. Just need to do your homework on getting the AMP and Steering Control hookup cables to make the install easy.
