Lee Mack - Live [DVD]

5 stars for content, -1 for most fans already having seen all of it so often
'Lee Mack - Live' is typical Lee Mack - not as rough or punishing as Frankie Boyle, nor as sleek as Jimmy Carr but incredibly funny in his own way. It has many of his really famous sketches, including the driving instructor, French perfume adverts, etc. so it is definitely something that will have you laughing for pretty much the whole duration. On top there are some fun extras, including radio interviews with music celebrities, which must have been much more fun for Lee than them. The only reason why I did not give the DVD 5 stars, which the content on its own richly deserves, is the fact that all of it has been repeated so often before. You have probably seen all the jokes on one of the many 'Live at the Apollo' reruns on Dave or somewhere else, so it is more of a collection of stuff you know and love, rather than material you are unlikely to have seen before.Nevertheless, a hillarious addition to any comedy fans' DVD collection.

far better than i thought ....
i got this dvd for christmas , and was not sure i would like it , as i saw lees performance on live at the apollo and it did not impress me too much mainly due to his very very fast delivery which never allowed me to appreciate the lines before he was on another subject , but it turned out to be one of my most favourite presents .if you like stand up and dont mind very fast delivery , then you will like it , i was impressed and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates good stand up , how he remembers all this for his shows is beyond me and i guess there is a lot there which was ad - libbed for that night and quite impromptu which impressed me as well , he is extremely quick witted which for me is a must for any great british comedian . also on the dvd are some other sketches which lee was in from the t.v. show which he was on , unfortunately i cannot remember the name now but i thought they were very funny as well especially the irish jockey and sign language sketch ,all in all i would definately recommend this dvd , especially if you need a good laugh , well worth the money .

Stonkingly funny
Buy it, watch it, laugh. A lot. A bright eyed & bushy tailed Mack delivers non stop top notch comedy, with sharp witted banter & well honed gags. Every single joke a winner. A fast pace with little time to catch your breath. The "Dad, am I adopted..." is just classic. This guy can do audience "participation" in a way that's funny to everyone, including the poor sod in Lees sights. It's 18 rated because of the swearing but you really don't sense he's swearing to shock - he's a naturally foul mouthed gag merchant, and extremely good at it! This is a keeper.

Not very funny!
This was obviously when Lee was learning his art because it wasn't funny and he is a funny man. I was disappointed.

Very good abs workout
Every once in a while, I find a comedy DVD that has me laughing so hard that I have to pause every five minutes to catch my breath. Enter "Lee Mack Live".If you're new to Lee's comedy, this is a very good place to start. It's brilliant. Just brilliant. I HIGHLY reccomend it. Just don't attempt to consume any kind of fluid for the duration of it.And bonus; the 'extras'-bit has Sketch show-clips (my alltime favorite sketch-show). And the 'Behind the scenes'-documentary "To Cartmel and back" (filmed by Lee and support act Steve Williams while on tour) is the funniest DVD-extra I've seen in my life.

Life threateningly funny
Have been a big fan of Lee Mack since first seeing him on TV. My wife bought me this DVD as a Christmas present and we watched it together for the first time with my twin brother. She genuinely thought that both he and I were in iminent danger of death through laughing - we were both rolling around on the floor. The unusual heckle "you've no idea how funny this is" is part of one of the funniest routines I have ever seen outranked only by the cock-a-neys routine. Altogether brilliant but should carry a health warning!

Still hurting from Laughing
I know comedians are a personal choice and on the back of that I can say up-front that this guy just cracks me up, so now you know what kind of review this is! I had caught this particular performance on various TV channels and as soon as I realised it was available on DVD buying it was a foregone conclusion. The level of swearing by any comedian will always be an contentious issue but unlike other stand-ups who I just don't get (Frankie Boyle for one), Lee's used of foul language never appears to be purely for the laugh itself or to insult someone (audience member or celebrity). Don't be fooled, Lee uses a lot of foul language but I think only as part of the joke or as an emphasis on the point being made. Normally when you pick up a bargain priced DVD you don't have great expectations and can even accept a poor showing, this is the best £3.00 I ever spent on comedy.
