Chieftain High D Whistle

This whistle is very well made, feels good in the hand and is not heavy. It has a larger bore than say my Generation, Clare or Clarke and therefore needs a greater air pressure to get the notes in tune (you need to blow harder). It is a big whistle in terms of sound volume but I am enjoying it when playing on my own or in the pub.

I should have taken the other reviews seriously when it was stated that one needs a lot of air to play in the higher octave.On a plus side, the lower octave is solid and loud.The whistle is quite wide, feels heavy and doesn't resemble any penny whistle I've ever owned.To say the least, I was disappointed with my purchase.

This was purchased for another band member who also plays in a folk band. She loves it. It isn't tunable though. Very good price for a non-tunable Cheiftain. Main features: superior tone and very loud.

Lovely whistle. Takes a lot of air to reach the high notes in the second octave. Other than that plays very well and is a lovely tone off it.

This is listed as tuneable but the model number and image are of a non-tuneable variety
