Chieftain Thunderbird Tuneable Low D Whistle

I was extremely impressed with this whistle.The tone is beautiful, sounds very breathy but without too much hiss. It's also far lighter than I expected and even looks pretty. Being tuneable is a big plus if you want to play with backing tracks or other people. I particularly like that it's not too loud, perfect if, like me, you're practicing in a flat rather than a dedicated practice space.One quick note is I've seen some people complaining that the hole spacing is too wide to pla comfortably. This is standard on all Low Whistles, and this actually has shorter pacing than most. Google 'piper's grip' to see how to finger a low whistle properlly. Takes a little getting used to, but it's easy and comfortable after a bit of practice.All in all, would highly recommend.

Quality instrument shame about the player.This is the first low d whistle i have tried, and it took a lot of getting used to as the low whistle finger holes are very far apart. there are lots of helpful videos on youtube. After quit a lot of practice i can now get a very nice tone from it.

Really not a patch on the Overton I previously owned, difficult to play in terms of getting a decent and consistent sound, overpriced rubbish, looks are deceiving as this whistle looks the part but in no way lives up to the hype.

Not easy to play, but nice whistle, practice needed and lots of it!

Was very happy with this whistle. Seemed excellent build quality. But now has some weird discoloured markings on it even though it has been kept in the plastic case. I just need to get some time to practice playing it. The holes are pretty hard to cover if you have thin fingers.

Everything went fine with the shipping, and was really fast (even if it was sent to France)The whistle has a nice and clear sound, both low and high notes are well balanced and easy to reach.
