This review refers to the " Memphis belle" Dutch subtitle version.The sub titles can be turned off on most of the episodes but what realy lets it down is the quality of the audio. It sounds as though it was recorded direct from a 1980s TV speaker with a cassette recorder in a bathroom, very echoey and distracting.

Auch wenn die Serie inzwischen 30 Jahre auf den Buckel hat, fand ich alles Episoden gut gemacht. Jeremy Brett spielt den Meisterdetektiv sehr gut und mit viel Herz. Sogar Witz ist vorhanden zwischen Watson und Holmes. Die Farben sind klar und der Ton super. Die Kostüme gut und passend. Die Folgen spannend (ich als Holmes Fan kannte die meisten Lösungen schon durch die Bücher). Die Geschichten halten sich eng an die Vorlagen und auch die Gastrollen sind erstklassig besetzt. Was ich gut finde das auch die arrogante Art von Holmes oft rüber kam, er ist ja so überzeugt von sich. Watson ist hier auch kein Stichwortgeber sondern ein Partner auf Augenhöhe. Mir haben 13 Folgen sehr gut gefallen, auch die letzte Folge an den Reichenbach Fälle, wo ja Holmes anscheinend ums Leben kommt.Wenn es was zu meckern gibt dann nur das es kein Bonusmaterial gab und das bei einigen Folgen wo es um die Drogenprobleme von Holmes ging damals in der DDR diese Szene rausgeschnitten wurden und hier deswegen nur auf Englisch mit deutschen Untertitel zu sehen sind. (Anders gesagt aber hier sind die Folgen uncut was wieder ein Vorteil ist).Für Sherlock Holmes Fans wie mich ein Muss diese Serie zu haben. Und für Krimifans sicher ein Blick wert.
