The product works as well as expected, but before the purchase, it's best to set realistic expectations. Hair chalk is not a chalk like substance, it is something more waxy, so there is zero chance to get the light, fresh looking hair with the bright stripes of colour from the promotional photos after using them. The product will be a bit clumpy and makes the hair look greasy or sticky, and the colour will work much better on light blond or white hair than on the darker shades. Other than this, the product is just as good as any other affordably priced hair chalk on the market, and the comb-shape seems to be a clever idea. There's a good range of colours to have fun with, especially for kids and those with a young spirit.

The below is my own real-world experience of using it.I was particularly drawn to it, as I thought it might be a fun item to have for parties/dressing up, and I also have a child who would get a lot out of the set.Though there are 12 colours included, I was hoping for a little more variation - quite a few of them are dark. Regardless, they seem to be effective on both light and darker hair (I tested on my mousy brown hair, and my child's red hair), I would just say that you need to 'build up' the chalk, to get an effective result. It does clump up a bit, but not enough to be off-putting. I also noticed that each chalk had a fairly pleasant scent, which will transfer to the hair - no need to worry about any strong or unpleasant smells.Once finished, it washes out fairly easily, with some additional agitation needed,In summary, a good value item.

I ordered this for my daughter with light blonde hair. It came in time and it looked great in the box. However, it didn't colour my daughter's hair and it made her hair look and feel greasy. I needed to return the product. I've received my money back promptly.

At my age I should know not to get excited by the picture on the box but I still do! I thought these would be lovely for using with my granddaughters, just for a bit of fun.In the box you get 12 hard plastic combs with different coloured chalk embedded into them and the idea is you comb it through your hair and the chalk leaves a trail of colour behind. At least that was the plan!I tried it myself first, I have dark Blonde hair, quite long. We found it very difficult to get the chalk to take on my hair, I'm assuming my hair was just too dark for it even though it is naturally blonde.So then I managed to talk my daughter into letting me use it on her hair, Beautiful long blonde hair, bleached so should take colour well. We didn't really do much better with her either, even though I was dragging the comb over her hair again and again and again and it had just the slightest bit of colour on it. I wondered if we were doing something wrong so I made the mistake of spraying a bit of water on her hair before I combed it - bad idea! Did leave more intensified colour but it became claggy and the chalk started falling to bits.As you can imagine my daughter is not very happy as her beautiful hair has now got patches of dry chalk which has made her hair going incredibly dry, and other patches where it's all sticking together!I'm so disappointed in this product, I really thought it would look good I was looking forward to transforming my granddaughters hair into beautiful rainbows! I'll try it on my grandchildren because even the slightest bit of colour will probably make them happy as they have zero expectations of how it should turn out.

At first, I tried these coloured chalks in my hair, which is brown and it was only a very subtle colour change. It left my hair feeling as though it had wax in it, it was difficult to comb or brush.My friends daughter has blond hair so we tried it out together. The colour showed up nicely, we did a few streaks throughout and it resulted in a very happy 8 year old. I wouldn't recommend going to bed with it in as the oily residue would come out on the bedding. To wash it out we used shampoo and rinsed, then shampoo again and rinse, then conditioner - that seemed to remove it all, but it did take a lot of scrubbing. Worth the time and effort for the joy on her face though.You get a lot of colours to choose from and it's fairly easy to apply, you simply comb through a section of hair until you get the desired colour or brightness you want. I think you get a great selection for the price.
