Engelbert Humperdinck The Complete Decca Studio Albums

THIS SET IS EXACTLY LIKE THE ORIGINAL ALBUMS!!!
I recently received the Complete Decca Studio Albums, 11 CD Box Set, and I am thrilled with them. They are EXACTLY the same as the original albums, as I had all eleven of them, and remember them perfectly. In the early years, I purchased all of these albums, and when I no longer had a stereo, purchased them again in audio tapes. I also no longer have a tape player. I have always loved these albums, as they were the foundation for my love of Engelbert. I was trying to buy all of these items in CD format, but it was nearly impossible. I know every word of every song on each of these albums, because I constantly played them. I really missed that earlier music. It is so wonderful to have all of my early favorites in a nice, tidy package. For anyone who has loved Engelbert's early, original music, and misses being able to listen to it on a CD player, this Decca compilation is for you. It is so well worth the cost, and I'm sure you will be just as pleased with it as I am!!! Think about buying this set. You will not be disappointed!!!!!

Original DECCA albums
In my opinion this is a very good compilation. It's not another greatest hits of Engelbert Humperdinck but a box set of his 11 albums recorded for Decca between 1967 and 1975. Many of the songs are released for the first time I think on cd. The sound quality is very good. Recommended!

If you liked the vinyls , you will love this set! I know my mom' would have loved these!
I am a big' collector of Engelbert albums/ they were my moms- owning the early vinyl' collections of 1967 through '74, and I 'babied' these albums thinking that availability would never be released , at least not within reasonable pricing/// I was wrong! this collection of original albums is the absolute best! I never heard the music sound so 'perfect, less popping and skips.I know some digital transfers lose a bit of balance and sound repro, as we are all used to listening to the original vinyls, but they really did a good job in keeping the Engelbert sound, as we know it, not playing with balance , tweeking instruments , or adding what 'they' think would give it new meaning, I like what was originally recorded at the time , and ' by gosh, I really think they did their best in keeping it this way,, bravo to all behind the 'Engelbert Sound!'

Almost perfect, missing a few songs
As previously mentioned by other reviewers, there are a few songs here missing that appeared on the American issues, as compared to the original British issues. This is still a great set, and I quickly got rid of my LP versions in place of this. But now that I've listened to the whole box, I feel that Decca has missed an opportunity here and they should have planned it as "Engelbert Humperdinck: The Complete Decca Recordings". Instead, they just reissued all the studio albums. I say this because if you are a collector, you will want his singles. "Am I That Easy To Forget" is missing, even though it's mentioned in the brief liner notes. And songs that I had on various London compilation LP's over the years contained singles not included on the albums. For example, "Funny, Familiar, Forgotten Feelings is not here, "Those Where The Days" is not here, "Stardust" is not here. So all those singles could have been placed on a separate disc. Then what about any unreleased studio material? What about any live recordings under the label? So I feel that they could have made this a definitive collection of his works, but instead, they just gave us the original British LP's, with no bonus cuts and sorely lacking liner notes. No recording dates, no conductors, no arrangers, no studio location, etc. So if you kept the original LP's that had credit to the arrangers and conductors hang on to it. Granted, you can look up his discography online I suppose for this information, but if you are providing a booklet with the set, why leave this important information out?So it's great to replace your old beat up LP's. Sonically it all sounds great. Superb Decca engineering. But a little lacking if you are an Engelbert collector. Still recommended however, if you can live with the missing cuts. Some of those missing cuts have wound up on various Decca CD releases, so you have to hunt for them if you are collector. But other cuts have not. Maybe one day they will do a complete recording box set. But until then, this set will suffice.

Engelbert Humperdinck - The Decca (UK) years
This set contains some albums on CD for the first time such as "The Last Waltz," "A Man Without Love." and "Engelbert." Like The Beatles, some UK albums differ from their American counterparts. This set's "Release Me" omits 'There Goes My Everything" and 'Il Mondo' found on the US Parrot LP, but adds 'Misty Blue' and 'If I Were You' which can be found on the US "The Last Waltz." This set's "The Last Waltz" omits 'Am I That Easy To Forget,' which is mentioned in the liner notes but nowhere to be found on the discs. All this being said, the quality of the music is great and was worth the price just to replace the scratchy LP vinyl dubs I have on some of the albums.

A Handsome Man with Captivating Indian Charm with a touch of Britishness...and a Phenomenal Voice!
Glad to have this box that includes all his lovely songs. The paper covers that wrap each disc allow me to rush back at the time the songs were first released. I still remember vividly, listening to my transistor radio to the only channel that allowed me to catch pop songs from England, when I heard these prophetic words " ...and now a new voice of which we'll hear a lot in the future..." And here we are , still tenderly seduced any time HE sings "loouve" in that uniquely, sweet and powerful way. My favourite songs are Quando, Quando, Quando, A Man without Love - both translated and readapted from Italian hits back in the 60s - Another time another Place and Love me with all your heart, adaptation from Cuando calienta el sol. A Great Entertainer, Eng, Hump, can turn a song into an everlasting master work of art and a huge hit. All the best to You!

Excellent coffret
De qualité homogène il comprend également de très bons morceaux comme « Dance with me », « Two different worlds », « Walk hand in hand », « Place in the sun » bien interprété également par Stevie Wonder, l’excellente reprise de « Everybody knows » ou le rythmé « To the ends of the earth ».Le troisième album « A man without love » a également remporté un vis succès (5*) en 1968 (#03 UK et #12 US) notamment grâce au hit « A man without love » (#02 UK et #19 US). Encore de bonnes reprises de succès comme « Can’t take my eyes off of you », « Quando, quando, quando » (#40 UK), « Up, up and away », « What a wonderful world » sans égaler la version sublime de Louis Amstrong, « By the time I get to Phoenix » de G. Campbell. L’album s’achève sur sa version de qualité de « The shadow of your smile ».Le quatrième album de 1969 « Engelbert » (#03 UK et #12 US) est du même niveau que les précédents (5*). Doté de deux succès avec « Les bycyclettes de Belsize » (#05 UK et #31 US) et « The way it used to be » (#03 UK) plus de bons morceaux comme « Let me into your life », « Through the eyes of love », « Mary me », « True » ou « Good thing going » il procure un plaisir constant à l’écoute. L’ensemble est agréable à écouter notamment « Woman in the life », les reprises de « I’ll be your baby tonight » de Bob Dylan et de « The first time I saw your face » de Roberta Flack. Le dernier morceau « When there’s no you » est très bon.Dernier album classé (3*) en 1971 « Another time, another place » (#48 UK et #25 US) avec le succès du simple « Another time, another place » (#13 UK).
