nice little kit
emphasis on little, when it comes to the dough whisk. i don't think i've seen smaller.that said, the set is relatively sturdy. silicone is a nice upgrade on bannetons which classically are woven wicker with optional linen proofing liners for easier cleanup, of which i have and use, not without of course prompt attention and foodsafe washing and drying of the liners such that things are a-ok for the next run of bread making. instead of that, silicone by nature of the material is collapsible, temperature-safe (breadproofing isn't supposed to be above high ambient temperatures or the lowest of low oven temperatures - set low and turn it off if you really want to know), dishwasher-safe, nonstick, easy-peasy cleanup -- all good in my book. and you get two, in larger and smaller sizes. the additional pastry knife/dough scraper and basic bread lame will do the trick, with a few extra razors as backup. nothing fancy, but basic enough to be useful. unless you're planning on making loaves for little kids or little people, emphasis on little, the dough whisk is likely no more than a miniature toy which is best designed for your toddler who wants to help with the punching down of the dough. might i add that it is a great stress-reliever, and to have them do it alone with their own fists/hands is likely a better adventure. i'd recommend the same for the grown-ups. get all those hand muscles working well.so it goes. great for the first-time bread maker or the bread maker who has everything except the newest coolest silicone. 5 stars.

Great starter set!
Price at time of review: $26.99Quality: 5/5Value: 5/5I love this set! I’ve recently started making bread and this set has helped start my bread making tools. The silicone bowls are easy use and wash. They both hold a traditional size batch of bread (My batch uses 450 grams of flour). They have held up great with both handwashing and being dropped in the dishwasher. The dough, even when incredibly sticky, comes out. It requires some dough scraper assistance but the silicone material makes it easy to use a dough scraper to help get the dough out. I have used these bowls to mix dough and proof the dough. I haven’t yet used it for baking the bread. The pictures show someone putting the bowls in the oven with a pan under it but I haven’t found anything within the description that eludes to its bread baking ability. Maybe I’ll try it soon…The tools that come with the bowls are also great. The dough scraper is great for folding the corners and cutting the dough. The dough mixer is a game changer for mixing batter easily and thoroughly. The dough cutter comes with additional blades, which is pretty common from other sets I’ve seen.Overall this is a great set! The only complaint I have is how flimsy it is when pouring the dough out. It’s silicone so obviously it’s going to be flimsy but I wish it were a bit more sturdy so I wouldn’t have to worry about folding the bowl in on itself when pouring freshly proofed dough out onto a floured surface.

stiff bowls
I find it hard to flatten the bowls but I'm hoping with time this gets easier. You get two bowls which is great. I like the loaf rather than the round because it works better for sandwich bread. It comes with a lot of tools making this a great kit to start making bread.I didn't like that the only instructions for this kit are on the box. I had to cut out the cardboard so I know what tempetures are safe to bake the bread as well as how to clean the bowls--dishwasher and by hand. I know that now but in six months I might forget.

OK starter set
I'll address the elephant in the room first: This IS NOT a great set. I gave it four stars because it's decent for a starter set and it's a very reasonable price. If you fall in love with baking though and decide to do it more, be prepared to replace some or all of these items once you get your legs under you.A few words about myself and my background: I'm a dude. I'm a late-comer to the kitchen. And by that I mean that my wife is such an incredible cook that it took me far too long to venture into the kitchen and for that I'm very ashamed. I think I've made up for lost time pretty well and I consider myself a decent cook. And bread is one of my specialties. I don't keep track, but I wouldn't be surprised if my loaf count is approaching a thousand loaves so far. I started baking about fifteen years ago and I'm pretty good at it. My review of "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day" has over 1,00 positive votes.I hope this isn't bragging, but I just want to give some context to my use for these kitchen tools.I've also given complete baking kits to many of my family members, so I'm used to picking out these items one by one. This kit has most of the tools that you need to get started. Besides a large 12qt mixing bowl and a baking stone, this is pretty complete. However, I don't love the quality of all of these tools. The stars of the kit are the proofing bowls. Honestly though, I think I prefer my old wicker ones. I've never had a problem with the dough sticking to those bowls, so I don't know that I really need the plastic ones. The only advantage of these is that they collapse for storage.I mix all my dough by hand with a Swedish whisk (also called a Polish whisk in some circles) and love the idea of this tool. I don't love this one though, because the handle is so short. I mix large batches of dough (5-6 loaves worth) and this whisk just isn't comfortable enough for my deep bowl. It's a fine start though, so check it out and see what you think. The dough scraper and the lame (pronounced "luh-MAY") are both good and shouldn't need to be upgraded.I would probably consider giving this set as a gift next time I try to help a family member get started. Compared to what I've spent on the tools that I use, this is a bargain and a good way to determine whether baking is right for you or not. Kind of like a parent buying their child an inexpensive instrument before they figure out whether the child will actually practice or has any talent. You can always upgrade later if the bug truly bites you.

Everything
The bowls are of exceptional quality. They are effortless to clean and use, and they provide excellent sturdiness when baking sourdough bread.

don't collapse so easy
These technically collapse, but only about 1/3 of their full size. They don't do it super easy, either, since they're "ribbed" for some reason..? They're pretty chonky as well. The set comes with a bunch of other tools that seem of middling quality, so I guess that's useful. But the bowls themselves are 3/5
