Great film! Denzel Washington makes a beliveable Malcolm X.

Why are White Men so violent?I ask the person reading this to look at the History of the United States of America from the beginning, to settling out west, and then all the way to the Pacific Ocean. As the United States Government continued this mass extermination of human beings, who were mostly Native born Indians, this followed into slavery of human beings, this time from Africa. As this continued over the years of our new nation, the white man once again slaughtered and killed another species, the American Buffalo.I am a white man from Michigan and my family of mostly German, Swedish and English ancestry arrived in the States from Canada between the mid to late 1880's-1910 or so. There seems to be a nasty, hateful gene that runs through the bodies of white men and women who live in the South.If you enjoy learning about history this might be a good book/audiobook to try out.

This particular version I bought for my son. the print is a bit small. I read a previous version (probably kindle) and loved it. The story is amazing, well written, and Malcolm X was a very interesting guy. Read it.

Very well done movie

Man, I had sold my 2-disc DVD in order to add this to my BD collection and replace my DVD's with BDs (still waiting on the Shaft films and Suplerfy with surround sound!), but last year this got pushed back because their was a rights issue with Sam cooke songs in the film. They have it together now and I gather this is why this is priced higher. I would have waited until it came down, but I figured I would snatch it up in case something else came up!Let me start by saying that this comes in ones of those digibooks and this one is different from previous types. This has the two discs attached to the covers of the book while the book pages are in the center. This is strange I maybe it was done because it was two discs. The book IS of a higher quality than the others with embossed titles, so at least you think that you are getting some of your money's worth. The back has the disc specs on it and it is stuck on better than previous digibooks, but I still do not understand why they cannot just print it on the back cover so that we will never lose it!The movies is the same, the extras are the same as the 2-disc DVD, which is a good thing! the main thing was they the Malcolm X documentary from the DVD set was included here as well. It would have been nice if it could have been HD... They made the making of in an HD-like look or they just letter-boxed it, so why not make a FILM feature in widescreen? All in all, this really just an HD replacement of the 2-disc DVD.AUDIO: I watched this film hundreds of times since I first saw it when it came out. I can almost recite it line for line and I am very familiar with the scenes and people in this film as well as the sound. I always thought that Malcolm X had one of the better surround sound effects on DVD and for this largely dialog driven film, and the same startling soundtrack transfers over to Blu-Ray - with upgraded sound. Of course the quality is better and the best example of the sound is when Malcolm X begins his first duties preaching on the Harlem streets with Al Sharpton and Bobby Seale. THAT is a perfect use of surround sound panning and it stayed precise! THIS is the type of surround sound that ALL movies should have.4.5/5PICTURE: If you already owned the DVD, then you are more than aware of how clean and clear the picture is. It is so nice looking that when you watch it, you find it hard to believe that twenty years have passed! The first DVD release of Malcolm X was on a single side, dual-layer disc that was perfect for what I liked - seeing the DVD cover art. That disc, I knew, was stretching it to the limits because of the running time, but it made do. The second release spread the film out over two discs which I hate, but when the film is three plus hours long, I can deal with it more. The picture quality was maximized for DVD and it showed.Now with this Blu-Ray, I was always wondering what improvements could be made on the picture quality since it was already stellar. I assume that it would appear more film-like and I was not expecting too much more in the way of details. For the most part that is what you get here, although I have not viewed the DVD in over a year so I am going by memory. You do see film grain - mainly through the early part of Malcolm's life, before he was sent to prison. I believe that the grain and slightly smoother look was a style choice kind of like JFK. Once Malcolm becomes an official Nation of Islam member, the picture is as crisp and as clean as you expect it to be. This film quality always made me say that this is the reason that directors should not make the jump to straight digital FILMING just yet, as film can be scaled into the future better unlike a digital file.The truth is, you do see more details, but it is not the difference between night and day like most DVD to BD's are. I better noticed the rubber on Denzel's fake goatee and marks on faces than in the past (I also have a larger TV now too!)and the zoot suits patterns are clear and you can make out exactly what they are and the colors do not stick.5/5Is it an upgrade? Of course it is, but it is not a light speed jump ONLY because the source material was so good to begin with! Now, of course this is the best quality Malcolm X you will get on ONE DISC with supreme sound. If you have the single disc DVD of X, then get this. If you have the 2-disc set and you do not like having one film over two discs, then get this. If you want it is loss-less surround sound - get this!Now Warner Brothers, PLEASE give me the Shaft movies and Superfly with remastered soundtracks in surround sound! I also want the Bruce Lee films on BD edited (why not?) and the sound all-new! It is not as if those HAVE to be as they were. Someone do it!

It's Denzel playing Malcolm X do I really need say more. Denzel didn't get his just do on this one. Oscar performance.

Le rôle lui va si bien à Denzel Washington que la ressemblance avec Malcolm X est saisissante. Une sacrée performance d'acteur instructif et fascinant en raison du personnage controversé. Dès l'introduction, Spike Lee frappe fort en nous proposant les images d'archives de cet Amérique frappé par la violence, Le lynchage de Rodney King qui deviendra tristement célèbre après son passage à tabac, le tout sous cette image du X brûlant de flamme...Sans parti pris et déballant une vie compliquée, la souffrance d’un homme de couleur qui allait devenir celui qu’il sera, une victime depuis sa plus tendre enfance de discrimination, l’émotion subie des remarques, moqueries, une naissance née dans la haine marqué au fer blanc. La reconstitution des différentes époques de sa vie est criante de vérité, la musique (soul, blues, jazz...) l'ambiance du Boston des années 40, les martyrs de l’esclavage de la colonisation, le pourquoi du comment du racisme anti-blanc, la colère qui en découle.Un hommage sans concession sur les excès de Malcolm X de sa plus tendre enfance à ses débuts de jeune délinquant, son passage en prison et sa reconversion à l'islam et sur la corruption d'Elijah Muhammad fondateur richissime, raciste et polygame des Black Muslims. Après plus de 3h00 de film, la violence qui fut son combat idéologique y est atténuée, Certaines séquences sont tout bonnement exceptionnelles, comme la séquence lors de son pèlerinage à la Mecque et le montage alterné des pyramides. Spike Lee a su nous émouvoir, nous fasciné et nous mettre en colère. C’est ce qui s’appelle avoir du génie et tant pis pour ses détracteurs ! Cependant, Il est regrettable que Malcolm X ait été assassiné au moment même où il était pour la fraternité entre Noirs et Blancs comme Marcus Garvey, Louis Farrakhan et Martin Luther King Jr assassiné comme lui visiblement pour les mêmes raisons...Et depuis, rien à changé aux États-Unis. le racisme continue de perdurer et les mentalités n'ont guère évolué depuis les années 60. L'histoire de Malcolm X et celle qui stimule notre esprit et notre perception des choses en permanence. Un leader mort comme il a vécu, Il avait ce courage de dire tout haut ce que les autres pensent tout bas. Je tiens tout de même à rappeler l'importance du casting (Spike Lee, Angela Bassett, Delroy Lindo qui interprète un truand de rue, Ernest Lee Thomas, puis la très belle Kate Vernon) Une oeuvre remarquable, voire même, magistralement interprétée par Denzel Washington. Il a par ailleurs été de nombreuses fois récompensé pour son interprétation, il a ainsi pu remporter l'Ours d'argent du meilleur acteur à Berlin et le MTV Movie Award du meilleur acteur. Il fut également nommé à l'Oscar du meilleur acteur (tellement mérité) cette année là.

Also was ich von diesem Film sagen kann ist nur Positiv! Alle Attribute, alle Kriterien erfüllt sich in diesem Film. Spannung, Action, Handlung etc., neben diesen Filmlichen Attributen ist sehr wichtig das dieser Film die Geschichtlichen Kriterien und zwar in Korrekter Art -und weiße über das Leben des Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ), über Rassismus und über die Geschichte Amerikas in einer außergewöhnlichen und Phantastischen Art der Korrekten Geschichte in allem wiedergibt. Denn die Art -und weise wie die schwarzen Diskriminiert, beleidigt und entehrt werden, werden in diesem fabelhaften Film eindrucksvoll und wahrheitsgemäß gezeigt. Doch noch eindrucksvoller ist es wie gezeigt wird wie Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) mit der Kraft des Islam ( wenn man es aber falsch Einsetzt also missbraucht kann das Gegenteil der fall sein ) die Rassistische Amerikanische Exekutive ( Obrigkeit ) aus jener Zeit Phantastisch mit der Kraft simpler Logik und Durchsetzungskraft Manieren beibringt und sie zurecht weißt ist fabelhaft und einzigartig.Als Drogendealer und Einbrecher wandelt Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) in der Dunkelheit herum der sein leben nicht mehr im Griff hat. Der wie ein Monster und Tier lebt ohne Disziplin und ohne Verantwortung sich selber gegenüber. Doch im Gefängniss hat Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) die absolute Erleuchtung und Absolution. Durch einen Mithäftling lernt er durch Bruder Baines den Islam kennen, der Ihn unverwundbar und unsterblich macht! Am Anfang kommt es ihm wie das Christentum schwachsinnig vor, weil im Christentum beispielsweiße ( und auch mehrere anderer Sachen )gesagt wird liebe deinen Feind, wobei der Islam sagt wenn dein Feind dich zerstören will darfst du ihn zerstören. Was übrigens auch im Deutschen Grundrecht steht, Die Sogenannten Notrechte oder Jedermannsrechte. Diese Argumente Kommen bei Malik el Shabaz (Malcolm Little ) sehr gut an als die Argumente anderer Religionen. Schließlich konvertiert Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) zum Islam und wird Geistlich unverwundbar und unzerstörbar. Nur der Führungshabgier seines Vorbilds und Geistlichen Führers Elijah Mohammed sorgt schließlich dafür das ( Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) wieder Diskriminiert, Erniedrigt, beleidigt und schließlich ermordet wird ( Das müsst ihr selber anschauen und verstehen, das dauert auch etwas länger, das ich hier jetzt nicht erzähle ). Weil er blind den Männern geglaubt und vertraut hat die ihn schließlich aufgebaut und gefördert haben! Also ein klassischer fall von verrat. Selbst dies wird in diesem Film fabelhaft gezeigt! Mann sieht in diesem Film wie Muslims erbarmungslos brutal vorgehen können Sobald einer vor allem aus ihren eigenen reihen abtrünnig wird und einen anderen weg einschlägt aus ihrer Sicht! Dabei ist einzig und allein Maik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) der einzige der alles richtig macht und auch am Schluss siegt ( weil alle ihn heute lieben und verehren ) bis auf die Sache seinen Leuten blind zu vertrauen!! Ich empfehle diesen Film jeden jederzeit weil er Geschichtlich Relevant ist und Eindrucksvoll zeigt wie das gute immer gewinnt wobei aber wenn das Böse in der nähe ist er auch verlieren kann! Mann muss eben alles richtig machen was Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) leider nicht tun konnte. Aber gewonnen hat er trotzdem. Sieht man im Film.Ich selber als Muslim bete stets für die Seele von Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) und vergesse ihn nie, alle Moslems, alle Schwarzen Menschen egal wo auf dieser Welt kennen und lieben Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ). Deswegen ist dieser Mann unsterblich und ist den richtigen weg gegangen und hat am Schluss gesiegt. Was niemand mehr rückgängig machen kann. Auch nicht durch ein Paar Pistolen und Gewehr kugeln. Deswegen Mögest du Malik el Shabaz ( Malcolm Little ) den schönsten, Hellsten und wärmsten Platz im Paradies haben zu jeder Zeit. Gott segne dich!!Deswegen von mir fünf Sterne, und jeder soll diesen Film kaufen!! Also ran Halten!!
