Simple in operation, very usable sounds for guitar and bass
I, like many, have owned more effect pedals and processors than I would like to admit. And my latest push is for simple to use. I have owned many effects that while they offered insane levels of adjustments, you felt like you were always searching for that elusive sound. The other issue is most effects are good for guitar or bass, rarely both sound as good. So I went with the new “small” Blue Hippo Chorus. I am beyond glad I did. Two knobs, one switch (which toggles between chorus and tremolo) is all you have, and honest, all I want. The beauty is the ability to produce SUBTLE effects, sure a crazy sound is fun for a song or solo, but subtle coloring of the signal is where it is at. For acoustic guitar and my hollow body it sounds very nice, where non musicians might not even notice it, and for bass it doesn’t harm my tone. For bass I play fretless and eub, and it doesn’t kill my lows or thin out my tone. Two thumbs up man!

Nice chorus pedal for certain uses
Great sounding chorus pedal. Very warm. I like that it switches between chorus and vibrato. Sizing of the box itself makes it fit great in my pedalboard. Not really ideal for super heavy chorus sounds like Message in a Bottle, and sometimes the pedal struggles if the signal coming in is too strong (from a volume boost or something) so best if it's put before dirt pedals in the signal chain.

Noisy!
Purchased directly from amazon. Not sure if I got a defective unit but mine had a high noise floor. When engaged there is a very audible hiss, much greater than any other pedal I own. It becomes less noticeable at higher volumes but still problematic. I did a visual inspection of the internals and didn't see any bad solder joints or grounding issues. The overall chorus sounds very nice however, which is why I gave it 3 stars. The vibrato is great as well. Pedals should shot be this noisy. FYI, I was in fact using an isolated power supply and tried it in a few different positions on my board as well as with a dedicated power supply. Returned it next day. =(

Not "the same great sound as it's predecessor" as advertised
Unusable & too noisy for "plexi" type gain unless you're into amplifying obnoxious, overdrive like hiss with your signal chain. Disappointing. I have several WH pedals that are quiet & sound amazing. Not so with this mkiii version. I can't return this laughable, wretched, waste of time, fast enough! Not even worth investigating whether it's defective or potentially something that can be remedied. I'm sure many others, like myself, accept the reality of you get what you pay for since you should never be willing to compromise when acquiring very specific gear that MUST accomplish very specific tasks, with the highest degree of success possible. Considering the pricetag we all pay nowadays to obtain gear that's capable, means having a zero tolerance for noisy junk & or crap like this 3rd version. I don't give a damn who made it, or if they're unhappy with how I said it. There's no excuse for producing or accepting, a noise floor this damn ridiculous!
