Was almost ready to return this BUT ...
... then I found the programmer's reference manual on the CD.This is a great little printer, and would most likely work 'out of the box' in many POS situations, but I'm using it for an application that I'm writing. My development laptop doesn't have an optical drive so looked online. Found the Windows driver OK, but no sign of a manual. Dug out an old external drive, and found the reference manual and test/config utility on there - why aren't these online too??The English in the manual isn't great, but mostly understandable, although had to resort to StackOverflow to fix a couple of issues. The procedure to set a fixed IP address seems a bit clunky, and again not 100% clear, but only took 5 mins.Print quality when driving it direct using it's own commands (which I guess is what it's designed for) is great. You CAN print to it from most Windows apps (Word, Notepad, etc) but the result looks like a scaled bitmap with poor edge smoothing.Prints at 216mm per second, so it certainly doesn't hang around, and as you might expect at that speed and price, although it's quite solidly built it does sound a bit toyish at times.Overall excellent and capable printer once you get a few little niggles sorted out.

Nice quality, difficult setup, worried about possible virus
The quality of the printer and the test print page looks good. But, it’s hard to understand the setup, especially regarding the switches which are located directly on the hardware's board. Some things from the images are not exactly as they are advertised. For example, the manual is too simple, I cannot understand how to setup languages etc. Also, no CD is included but a USB stick instead (which is not bad as an idea). The actual problem comes when I tried to use the USB stick. My antivirus (BitDefender) caught a possible instance of a virus there. All the files are .exe which makes me very worried and I do not feel comfortable to execute them after the antivirus warning. You can also see attached photos for all the mentioned things in my review.
