Fame: Extended Dance Edition [DVD]

I bought fame from amazon & all i have to say is its great. Ok it won't beat the old version but as a dancer who knows about the dancers & choreographers in the film but also the intention of the film; it was not a re-make of the old fame and was not meant to be a re-make, but an updated version.What the students encountered in the the first fame, will not be the same for the students in the new fame because time has gone on & things have changed.So people should just stop hating on the Fame 2009 & if you do not like it, don't watch!!!I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!! A must have for any dancer.

I bought this DVD, along with the original version and the series-1 box. Just for oldtimes sake. I loved it in the 80s when the original was first shown on TV and I just wanted to know what had changed.First surprise: Debbie Allen is back! Now the headmaster of the school instead of the dance-teacher. And she still looks great, even after 30 years.The story just seems to catch up where we left it 30 years ago. Just another new bunch of kids in a new freshman's year. With new problems. And those problems are like the old ones. Nothing has changed in that aspect. Even the diversity of the kids seem to be a copy of the old movie. The update is the language and the music. More trendy, more today's music. And I think that is what it all is about. Schoolkids now and schoolkids then have the same problems, the same likings and are basicly: the same. That is what the movie shows. A great remake of an old movie into a contemporary equivalent.What I also liked was the extra's. Every character has a place in his or her own "Remember my name - FAME" galery. And if you want to watch an updated version of the old "FAME" song: here you will find it!In conclusion: great movie, just what I expected. I did enjoy it and with me my daughter who had never seen the original.

My grandaughter is nine years old and music mad. Plays piano, into all kinds of music. She loved this DVD as she is also mad about dance in all shapes.

Already seen it but a great film and great quality for the price it was sold at. Also it came in a very good condition and was delivered exactly when it said it would be.

Disc did not play. Thats the fourth bluray edition of this movie I have had and none of them play. They seem to revert to a data disc. I'd be interested if anybody else is having the same problem. Its the only title in my whole collection that exhibits these characteristics. Tried in three different players and a PC drive.

Super value for money! Very quick delivery.I really enjoyed this film, not quite sure why it was a '12' rating though. Lots of dancing, singing, and the demands of school.

Fame extended dance versionPurchased this most recently , as I am a fan of the series Fame , and had purchased one of the series on DVD .This is a good film, but what really let it down was the poor acting , and some really poor film sets as well .really the film itself, was all over the place, dances here and there , vocals that ranged from emotive , to happy and a really up and down story line confusing , pitchy , and sometimes quite annoying too ....

Entertaining.

Je me rappelle, lorsque j'étais plus jeune, j'adorais regarder Fame (sur FR3 si je me souviens bien).J'aimais aussi beaucoup l'interprétation de la chanson officielle par Irène Cara. J'adorais Leroy aussi et le Professeur Shorofsky.Enfin j'aurais aimé aller dans cette école, mais pas assez douée ;o) et c'était dans les années 1980 !! Le kiffe quoi ;o)Qu'elle bonne nouvelle ce remake de 2009.Moi j'y ai retrouvé un peu de la série et du film.Très bien dosé et parfaitement adapté.On y retrouve ce qui a fait le succès de la série/film :- super chorégraphies- très belles chansons- de l'humour- des petites histoires entre étudiants- et surtout l'ambiance New YorkaiseLa version du DVD est assez simple et pas non plus folichonne.Pour une version prestige, je pense que ça aurait pu être mieux !!Alors oui, c'est chouette il y a les scènes coupées, mais je pense qu'il y aurait pu avoir les casting (surtout pour ce film, ça aurait été une bonne idée) , mais aussi quelques images de la première.En France ce film n'a pas fait beaucoup d'entrées je crois, il est sortit un peu en "catimini" et c'est bien dommage.Pour ce qui est de la version video (DVD ou Blu Ray) et bien rien de transcendant . Il y a :- la version française- la VO sous titrée- la version française sous titrée français ou anglaisHeureusement qu'il y a le clip Remember My Name ! parce que là, ça aurait été en dessous de tout qu'il n'y soit pas !!En fait j'ai tellement aimé cette reprise que je l'ai acheté en single.Pour moi, un bon film, mais pas un DVD développé . Mais ça ne m'empêche pas le regarder de temps en temps.

This is certainly not the "Fame" of old, but one could argue the same about the wildly successful television series based on the original version. The dancing is still incredible, and the characters still hunger for success; you see dreams get crushed, hopes get dashed, and the young hopefuls press on in spite of it. My favorite number from the film has to be the choreography based on "Black and Gold" by Sam Sparro (a little ironic, considering what the subject matter is actually talking about--a man's spiritual beliefs). And Naturi Naughton's version of "Out Here On My Own" has to be one of the most played songs on my iPod.I accidentally ordered the Blu-Ray disc version of this film; however, there is a digital copy that is compatible with iTunes, so that saved me.In closing, I would say don't watch this film expecting the exact same story; look at it through new eyes, as the producers have chosen to do.

Ich weiß nicht was viele an diesem Film auszusetzen haben. Vielleicht liegt es an den Erwartungen oder sonstiges, doch viele denken, dass das Remake von Fame ein Musical ist, bzw sich und Musik und tanzen usw dreht. Das tut es auch in gewisser weise, doch in dem Film geht es viel mehr um die Geschichte der Jugendlichen, wie sie mit dem Alltag und den Erwartungen fertig werden, was die Schule vorraussetzt. Der Film zeigt weniger glanz und mehr Realität: Nicht jeder wird berühmt, denn nicht jeder ist gut genug dafür.Zum Handlungsaufbau:Der Film ist in 5 Abschnitte eingeteilt (Auditions und die 4 Schuljahre). Mit knapp 2 Stunden Laufzeit läuft dieser Durchgang über den Bildschirm, was meiner Meinung nach eigentlich viel zu gequetscht ist, doch wurde dieses gut umgesetzt, quasi eine grobe Zusammenfassung, was im Schulverlauf passiert ist. Doch hätte der Film ruhig in 2 Teile aufgeteilt werden können, um so mehr zu erzählen.Zu den Charaktären:Was weit aus besser is als beim Original, ist die Verarbeitung der Charaktäre. Während ich nach dem Angucken des Originals grad mal wusste, wie 2-3 der Figuren hießen, kannte ich mich beim Remake etwas besser aus, da etwas mehr auf sie eingegangen wird. Zwar werden Liebesgeschichten, Dramen etc. auch nur bei jedem Charakter grob angeschnitten, doch ist im Gegensatz zum Original die Entwicklung der Charakter viel besser zu verfolgen.Zur Musik und zu den Tanzeinlagen:Ich finde der Film hat einen ausgezeichneten Soundtrack, der mir so einige Ohrwürume bereitet hat, darunter der Song der während der Halloweentanzeinlage gespielt wird. Auch das Cover des Songes Fame ist einfach klasse gelungen. Leider ist der Film in Sachen Tanzeinlagen etwas kurzgekommen, doch ist der Tanz in der Halloweenszene einfach unglaublich und einer meiner Lieblingsszenen im Film.Fazit:Wer mit den richtigen Erwartungen heran geht (weder Tanzfilm noch Musical, sondern äher Drama/ Musikfilm), kann sich auf eine tolle Unterhaltung freuen, doch ist dieser Film auch sehr der heutigen Zeit angepasst. So kann es sein das Leute die im Jugendalter des Orignals waren vielleicht mit dem Remake total unzufrieden sind, da mir (ich bin 18) das Original z.B. gar nicht gefallen hat. Dies nur als kleiner Hinweis. Trotzdem ist der Filme große Klasse und sehr sehenswert.
