Fantastic picture quality, unbelievable upscaling abilities!
I got this Panasonic (branded) 4K Blu Ray as my Samsung was just too troublesome. The price was fair, and the performance with 4K discs is everything you might imagine. It's unexpected super power is in its upscaling of standard DVD's and Blu Rays. I tested playing a standard DVD in a standard (Pioneer)DVD player, my (Pioneer) Blu Ray, and this Panasonic 4K Blu-Ray. The difference was incredible. Even standard DVD's look great! ... No pixelization at all - even on a 100" screen! Its performance is unequalled to date. This merits of looking at this player even for just its incredible upscaling performance are valid, seriously ... It's that good! I recommend it 100%

What i got is what I wanted to pay for
Feels cheap but good, that's what I paid for. It doesn't have fancy looks or features on the outside bit it functions well with good sound and picture. Watching a 4k disk on it is visually better than streaming 4k, deeper and better colors. I recommend.

Effortlessly Awesome
I mainly bought this to play multi-region discs since I have a small collection of region 1 DVDs. Being from South Africa, many 4K UHD Blu-ray Discs only include a region A Blu-ray, and I love exploring the special features—most of the immersive extras in a 4K package are on the Blu-ray Disc only. This is a Region 1 DVD and Region A Blu-ray Disc player. I managed to find a remote hack that allows me to play my native Region B Blu-Ray Discs. However, it requires a very specific remote to enter the necessary button sequence, which I don’t have to play region 2 DVD’s. Plus, the hack that works for Blu-ray Discs doesn’t work for DVDs. I watched my 4K UHD Blu-Ray Discs via my Xbox Series X and I didn’t really have a problem with it, but the Panasonic DP-UB450P-K is hands down, no, HANDS TIED BEHIND ITS BACK, A BETTER PLAYER AND HAS BETTER SETTINGS OPTIONS AND CAPABILITIES. The remote doesn’t just feel like a child’s toy, it is in-fact exactly that, a child’s toy, with a very unintuitive, cluttered button layout. I setup my Logitech Harmony remote to control the player instead of the included remote. In conclusion, coming from a console, this player is an upgrade, and if you're on a budget and don’t need wifi or streaming services, (it does have ethernet) and you want a simple set it and forget it set up, this is your best bet. DOLBY VISION/ATMOS, HDR10+ right out of the box, can play multi-region Blu-Ray Discs with a hack.

Highly recommended
Been using this pretty faithfully for 1.5 years now and it's great; this is a very durable machine that can replace all of your other players -- it does CD, DVD, BR, and 4k (as well as USB). The sound and picture quality are both phenomenal, just make sure you're using the proper HDMI cable. No complaints other than a somewhat confusing remote (some of the buttons aren't very intuitive, and turning on subtitles doesn't work the way you think it would). Take your time and make sure you adjust the custom settings, you'll get a lot more out of it. Make sure you turn on the quick start feature and it boots up quickly like a dream.

Panasonic UB450 is cheap and it shows! You get what you pay for!
Do not waste your time or money on the Panasonic UB450. I own two Panasonic UB820 and a Reavon UBX100 they are excellent players. I purchased the UB450 from Amazon as a back up player and because Panasonic makes quality products until now. This first player I purchased did not work at all. The remote control was broken so I had to use my remote from the UB820. The disc tray had issues opening and closing. The player powered up but would not display the set up menu, I could not get any picture, so I returned the unit. I purchased a second unit and that one seemed better at first. Remote worked but very cheap and poor quality so again I used my UB820 remote. This player powered up and the set up menu came up right away. I went through the set up and started playing 4K UHD movies. Seemed fine then I played a blu ray movie and it seemed fine too, but once I went back to play 4k movies, the player malfunctioned and the screen was pixelated with red, yellow and pink colors only. This was something I had never experienced with any other player. I tried multiple 4k movies with the same result-pixelated screen. I unplugged it, swapped HDMI cable, reset settings, connected it directly to another OLED TV bypassing the receiver and results were the same. The UB450 is a poorly made player with cheap parts - you get what you pay for!! Even if this player worked, it would not last more than a year if you’re lucky! Very disappointed at Panasonic!

Great 4k player
Works just like it should. Plays 4k disks well along with having Dolby vision. Fairly cheaply made exterior, but it just sits on a shelf. Doesn’t need to be made of titanium.

Excellent player if you want to play movies without the apps
This 4k blu-ray player is a good choice if you are looking for a basic player. It plays your 4k disc in Dolby Vision or HDR10. The player doesn't come with apps (no Netflix, YouTube, etc.). The picture quality is beautiful. The remote control is a bit small. So, if you have big fingers you might want to us a universal remote. Another thing about this player is if you play a disc and you get a message saying the disc is not compatible. The issue is not the player but the disc is bad. I would recommend you to get a replacement for the bad disc.

Great video, above-average USB media-player, but not perfect
The picture quality is great and it works well. Personally, I mostly wanted to upgrade from my Sony because another reviewer had said that the "media player" (off USB drive) was excellent and I've got my entire, enormous DVD collection of many thousands digitized onto a hard drive, so so many products that claim to support this, do it at the bare minimum... sometimes unusably (My Samsung TV will spend 10 minutes trying to read the files in one directory!) The Sony also had issues with navigating large folders... very painful. THIS player is MUCH better at reading the file system... the directories pop up immediately. The UI is high-res and clear, but I could have used a slicker looking interface than just dull directories of file names... but at least it works quickly. The BAD... It doesn't take lot of effort to hang this box to the point of needing to reboot. The first HD VIDEO FILE that I played froze the system up as soon as I went into double-fast-forward mode. (It would be a nightmare to return to a point deep inside a file if you ever accidentally exited it!) Another HD movie hung up the system during playback a short while later as well. But we have successfully watched several other movie files. I've NOT see it misbehave while playing discs. We've also seen some issues with closed caption (again, on video files, not on discs) where the captions would display each line for minutes at a time... so by the end of the show, it would still be showing lines from the beginning. Not sure if this is a widespread issue or specific to the files (from BBC discs of "Death in Paradise".) I've not seen any caption issues with discs so far. UPDATE: I wrote that it doesn't support CEC (one device controlling another over the HDMI cable) but that's not true. My SONY would turn off/on my whole system (TV, AV Receiver) whenever I powered off/on the DVD player... but this one behaves a little differently and it took me a couple more times to realize it. If I use the player's remote to turn the DVD off, it does not power down the whole system... but I CAN use the TV remote to control the DVD player (so it must be communicating) and if I turn the TV off... it WILL turn off the DVD player along with everything else... in a way, it's actually the preferred behavior, so you can turn off the DVD player and switch to something else without accidentally powering everything off. It also seems that for a "premium" player, it could use higher quality materials... it's not bad, it's just no better than any other player at half the price. So... video quality-wise, no complaints. All the basic stuff is well presented and easy to use (although it took me a while to figure out that it had SEPARATE settings for old-school 608 vs HD 708 closed captions, so I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't display after I turned them on... gotta set both!) The media player feature, while better than most, still feels like an afterthought and could has room for improvement. 4.0 - 4.5 stars
