Moths!
I had no idea how many jersey tiger moths lived in my area! This bulb works like a dream

Perfect moth trap lamp
I bought this to replace a UV blacklight I had been using for years in my home made moth trap. My average catch at my current address, using the old blacklight had been around 10-20 moths a night. I tried this actinic lamp last night (in slightly less than ideal weather conditions)and was nearly overwhelmed with the size of the catch this morning. Obviously it's never going to match a mercury vapour trap, but if, like me you can't use one of those for fear of disturbing the neighbours, this lamp will bring in enough moths to keep you happy.

These really work for European Moths
Field tested for the first time in Rhodes last week. Attracts more females than MV or MBT (see photos of Marumba quercus and Sphinx pinastri). Highly recommended also for use with the "Insectopia" Large Safari trap, which is white, so with the blue glow, makes a bigger target area

Excellent cheap moth trapping bulb
I bought this after reading reviews from a moth trapping blog which tested multiple UV actanic and MV bulbs, the guide wasn't wrong about this bulb, it works well and produces great catch rates without blinding my neighbor's like a MV bulb does and without the need for choke electrics. Highly recommended.

Used 9 times then it failed to work
I purchased this Sylvania bulb that cost about £20, including postage, for my twin 20 w moth light trap on 11 May 2023 and have used it 9 times then it failed to work when I tried it today. To test my equipment I tried the other much older Sylvania bulb and it worked in both fittings on the light trap, therefore it is the new bulb purchased on 11 May that is faulty. It has not been dropped and as the photograph shows it looks brand new. I have used Sylvania bulbs since 2016 and they always last several years, not 3 months as this one has, so I am wondering if the quality control is not what it used to be.Amazon says it is too late for a refund so now I have contacted the seller, CP Lighting, who said I will have to send the bulb back for them to check in order to give a refund or replacement. For a relatively small amount of money I am wondering if it is worth bothering to return the bulb and will probably not buy this type of item on here again, as although this company seems honourable, the Amazon guarantee is only 30 days and it is a nuisance trying to sort it out if things go wrong.
