Q: Can you use two soft pods(senseo-type, not k-cups) for 14 oz coffee?

Yes you could use the soft pods in this coffee pot.

Q: The picture shows it takes loose grounds and soft coffee pods such as senseo. (not k-cups!) has anyone tried the soft pods in this machine?

I only use loose medium ground coffee in the basket. I didn’t want to have to use paper filters!

Q: Why upon second use it turns off after 5 seconds and 1 cup takes 10 turn ons.

It shouldn’t. Just needs to cool down for 2-3 min before it’ll do the 2nd cup. If it’s not working right I’d send it back

Q: May one use a ceramic mug instead of the included thermal cup?

My version didn’t come with the cup. But there should be no reason why you couldn’t use ceramic. If your cup is too short there could be splashing on the counter, no big deal.
