MAXGROOM 5D Head Shaver

I shave my head and while I've done it before with my own razor and had a barber shave it with a straight razor, this thing works way better and gives me a cleaner shave without cutting me. The last shaver I purchased similar to this felt as though it was pulling each hair out and shaving some. With this shaver, it does exactly what it's supposed to do, shave my head. The outer blades move and conform to my head while the middle mainly stays balanced and gets everything flat. Even with some of the breakouts I get from wearing a hard hat this razor doesn't cut them open like a traditional razor does. I get a close shave every time without missing any hairs. Completely rechargeable, comfortable to hold and fully rechargeable. This shaver also seems to glide over my head whether I'm doing a wet or dry shave.

When I had it in my hand, it reminded me of something solid, and it promised a degree of performance and durability that immediately differentiated it from the flimsy and throwaway choices that I had become used to. But it wasn't until I turned it on and ran it over my head that I realized the whole extent of the device's ability to perform miracles. The precision-engineered rotary blades were able to glide smoothly over every contour and curve, resulting in a shave that was incredibly close and level with each pass. There would be no more missing patches or unattractive stubble; instead, the dome would be smooth and polished, exuding an air of self-assurance. The device has five replaceable heads, allowing it to shift from a precision scalp shaver to a full-body grooming tool in a smooth manner. It is capable of addressing anything from facial hair to body grooming with great ease. For the purpose of keeping my beard and sideburns in pristine condition, the trimmer attachment that was included in the package has proven to be a very helpful investment.

The media could not be loaded.  Got this new razor to replace my old one. The 5D rotating blade setup is clever - follows face shape pretty well. Shaving's quick and mostly comfy. Magnetic head's handy for cleaning. Battery lasts about a week, which is nice. Wet or dry use is convenient for quick touch-ups. But it's not all great. Still got some irritation on my neck, despite claims about not touching skin directly. Shave isn't as close as I hoped - often need multiple passes. Motor's strong but noisy. LED's a bit bright for early mornings. Waterproofing seems okay, but I'm cautious about fully dunking it. It's alright for daily use, but I still grab a manual razor when I need a really close shave. Decent option if you need a new electric, but don't expect perfection. The biggest drawback is probably the inconsistent closeness of the shave, especially on trickier areas like the jawline.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I have examined many shavers of this type that are available on Amazon. There are now two variations available. One has the old-style cutting head, where the individual heads open individually and are a total pain to clean. The other, newer models feature a magnetic head block that pulls off easily, making cleaning a breeze.This is the newer and better magnetic version.The five shaver heads are connected to the rest of the attachment via a framework that has strong magnets. The entire thing snaps on/off easily. When it comes off, you can immediately access the clipped hair reservoir. This has two great benefits over the old style heads:1) You can easily remove all the shaver heads for cleaning up hair that's been shaved.2) The middle head floats just like the rest of them.As for whether five heads are better than three that you normally find on shavers from Norelco and others--mostly, no. The issue is that the shaver motor doesn't increase in terms of torque when you add more heads, so each head gets proportionately less power. It's a trade-off between more cutting surface area and more power per head. Thankfully, this shaver only has five heads, whereas other shavers have even larger numbers (up to ten). Holding the button for 3 seconds will put it into soft "lock" mode, suitable for travel.The non-shaver attachments are a mixed bag. On the plus side, the nose hair trimmer works very well. On the minus side, the hair clipper is quite mediocre--it operates at a low speed and struggles with any amount of hair. It's about as good/useful as the clipper that's integrated into some shaver handles. Those can clip a bit of trim hair, but they are an exercise in frustration for any serious hair removal. Same here. The face cleaner attachments are probably OK, but I can't imagine using them.An unusual feature of this shaver is that there's a built-in mini clipper on the side (see photos). It's not big enough to remove much hair, but you could use it to do a bit os sideburn trimming or beard trimming in a pinch. I haven't seen this feature on many shavers of this type. With this integrated clipper, the lousy snap on clipper attachment makes even less sense.Overall, this shaver has a newer style magnetically attaching head, which is a significant improvement over the older style rotary shaver blocks. It also features a built-in pop-up trimmer and a solid nose hair trimmer attachment. Perfect size, longer battery life than my previous shaver. love it!
