I was a little hesitant given some of the negative reviews, but I'm so glade we decided to get it.Yes, it is rather small, but since the wheels are completely under it there isn't any foot/legs hitting the wheels to worry about, which I like. Though it is small, it's perfect for her (her feet barely reach and she's about 29-30in tall) and I know even as she grows she'll still be able to play on it, her legs will just be more bent, but then again it's a scoot toy so I don't mind.The 360 swivel makes it really easy for my daughter to use. This was for her 1 yr birthday so she isn't the most coordinated and being able to go any direction is perfect.Some people said the noise is hard to get it to make, this I can't comment on. Since she has a lot of noise toys I just didn't put batteries in it, I didn't want it this toy for the "boink" noises it makes anyways. Also, there is a little squeaky horn thing for them to push in the middle which is good enough for me. If you're looking for the bump noise info see another review.Given her age, she's not able to control the direction, the "bumper" works really well against our walls and leather sofa like it says it would.The body of it is plastic, but it is a very nice quality so I'm pretty satisfied with that. I think it should easily be able to last with future siblings.I also like the retro look of it.Overall, I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews stop me from this purchase because my daughter LOVES it, which makes me happy too!

I bought this bumper car from Amazon when my son was 18 months old. It took him a month or two to figure out how to move it with his feet , but ever since it has been a favorite . A whole year later he still uses it and does donuts in our living room . I think this thing is awesome, lightweight, almost unbreakable, works great from the start, and incidentally is actually kinda cute . It did take a while for my son to have the 'weight ' to make the bumper noises, but in my opinion the fun is not dependent on the boinking sounds. It is a great simple toy. With the multi-directional wheels , I think Radio Flyer has won the market with this ride-on.

My 18 month old loves this car! I am so happy we bought it for her - it's just the right size and it's so easy for her to maneuver around because the wheels move in any direction. At first she wasn't so sure about it, but after a couple of days, she really warmed up to it. It's easy to get off and on, and is stable. She has never tipped it over while riding either. It does take a bit of effort to make the sounds, but she has learned to run in to the wall or door to hear it make noise! Good news is, so far, no scuff marks on walls or baseboards. Although it is really meant to just be used indoors, we have taken it outside a couple of times and the wheels are still fine (but we do not make a habit of playing outside with it.) We have hardwood floor throughout the house, but do have a couple of low-pile area rugs, and she can move across those without a problem too. We also recommended to a friend who has a son the same age.
