Hallmark Movies & Mysteries 2-Movie Collection: Shifting Gears & A Taste Of Love

OK
The first movie, shifting gears, is about a girl who works at her dad's car repair shop. She also enjoys restoring cars. In the movie, she ends up joining a reality show contest for car restorers to help her dad's shop. Her ex-boyfriend, with whom she had a falling out also joins the show. He is the son of a guy who owns a chain of car repair shops. This movie is a little different, being set in Detroit and dealing with car mechanics. I wouldn't say it's a classic and even though the cars are present throughout the movie, the car stuff isn't highly developed. It almost seems as though the characters dabble now and then rather than being really into it. I wouldn't say it's a classic Hallmark but it is a little different which makes it interesting. The second movie, Taste of Love is a very typical movie in which the main character is a chef who has a work-related let-down and goes back home where she enters a cooking contest. Along the way, she reconnects with an old boyfriend who helps her out. I would say this movie has an interesting main character and parents, but much of the themes and ideas are not very well developed. You don't see much of the rivalry in the contest. You don't even see much of the contest. There isn't much chemistry or interaction between the main characters. They seem to hang around a bit and then are all of a sudden madly in love at the end. I would say this movie is a disappointment. It feels like a story that's been done a hundred times on Hallmark which was rehashed one too many times.

Both of these movies were okay
A female garage mechanic ends up in a car restoration project competition. I liked that she was teaching women to learn basic car repairs. The other, an on camera cooking show host has to decide if she wants to accept the huge raise she is offered to continue as a prime time host. The ending was very predictable but I didn't feel any chemistry between the leads. Lots of new faces for Hallmark movies. The only one I recognized was Tyler Tynes whom I like.
