SUBLIME COMFORT
My first biggest bugbear when it comes to socks are ridged seams that sit over your toes which are uncomfortable and cause blisters. Secondly, it's the socks that cling to your feet and are wet with sweat when you take your boots or shoes off.I'm on my feet all day at work, I can cover miles and I also like to go hiking so a sock that can put up with that kind of use is number one on my Christmas list. I took a chance with Darn Tough though initially I was put off by what I considered was the high purchase cost. How much better could they be to the Lorpen midweight socks I was using. The Lorpen socks are fully synthetic and while they are comfortable they still got quite damp. They also failed after a month of heavy use as my toe burrowed right through. This was disappointing but they are priced less than these Darn Tough socks. They also tended to start smelling sweaty very quickly and hardened with a couple of days of hiking around the Lake District. The difference these socks make is amazing. First off, I wear leather/leather lined hiking boots and steer clear of synthetics and Gortex. They allow my feet to breath and are still waterproof when treated with wax. These socks have made a huge difference. They fit perfectly, they have no seams, they do not have tight spots or leave a mark around the calf and they stay in place. My feet feel so much drier than before, probably down to the high percentage of merino wool. The socks don't smell or harden after a few days use. If you do get a bit of water in your boots they are great at wicking moisture away. They are a relevation to my feet. So much so, I bought another two pairs. They are guaranteed for life, but I'm going to do my best to try and wear them out......

Very comfortable.
A lot of money to pay for hiking socks but time will tell. They are very comfortable and fit well. They seem extremely well made. I will revisit my review in a year's time when they have hiked a lot of miles and been washed a lot.

Excellent walking socks
These socks are really good, although they are quite expensive. They are supposedly guaranteed not to get holes in, we shall see, but good to date.

Really nice socks, excellent in fact, but didn't help my poor feet
I'm in a hiking group. During a previous little stroll I suffered a bit from blisters. I blamed the boots but they've never caused me any pain before and I've walked miles and miles in them so maybe that blame was misplaced. A common denominator for those in the group who didn't suffer from blisters was that they wore Darn Tough socks and they were keen to say that their socks were the reason they were able to walk at the end of the hike without every step being accompanied by effing and jeffing. That seemed like a great endorsement so I bought some. They were expensive, eye-wateringly expensive, the most expensive socks that I have ever bought but they were going to keep my feet happy so would be worth the investment. They arrived quickly, thanks Amazon Prime, and I tried them on. They felt great, they were supportive, they were good socks. The next hike was arranged. I was confident that my feet, nicely wrapped in Darn Tough goodness, would be fine all day. Unfortunately that wasn't quite what happened. At the end of the hike my feet were even more blistered than before.I'm back to blaming the boots. But, the socks. For me they were not as successful as I'd hoped, so I can't give them 5 stars. The pain I felt after that last hike makes that impossible. The disappointment was huge. They are really expensive too so it's difficult not to mark them down on that. However, they do feel really well made and of very high quality so they have to be given credit for that. They also come with a lifetime no quibble guarantee so the company obviously believes in them. So, for me, a middle of the road rating seems fair. I suspect that once I pair them with different boots my feelings about them may change but for now it's 3 stars.

The best
The only socks Ill ever need. I have 7 or 8 pairs and they are all I wear. Its truly disappointing when I have to wear a different pair of socks. Comfortable, warm in the winter and cool in the summer, keep my feet dry, and does a phenomenal job at preventing my shoes and boots from developing bad smells. Even after a 12 hour shift wearing these in my boots I can take them off and smell them and they smell fine. I dont know how it works but they are worth every penny. Been wearing them for 6-8 months washing after every use and they show no signs of wear; like new.

Too small
These are like women's socks. I got them for my brother for Christmas because he hunts ducks. These don't even fit my feet and I'm his sister. XL Says fits 12 to 14,fits more like 8 to 10.

Outstanding socks! Especially for hiking.
Excellent socks! I’ve had a couple pairs of these socks for about five years. They’re so comfortable and durable. I have hundreds of hiking miles on them and they show no signs of wearing out. No more sweaty, smelly feet like acrylic socks.Love them so much I picked up five new pairs so I can wear them to work everyday. The only negative is the price. These things are expensive, but not unreasonably so considering the durability. I wear out cotton socks after a couple of years and these wool socks are almost five years old, so…
