ON THE WAY TO ALLERGY OUTBREAK RECOVERY
Heidi has been through the ringer with allergy outbreaks, as you can see from these pictures. Started her a couple of years ago on the immune system killer Apoquel. Then in late January, in the dead of winter here in Sahuarita, Az, she had a bad breakout! Went to Dr Wilkinson who recommended upping Apoquel from 1-16mg pill to 2-16 mg pills. I objected and said that’s overdosing, let’s try 1 1/2 pills first. He also prescribed a two week antibiotic to clear up the horrendous looking inflamed back paws and a strict Hill’s z/d prescription diet (spent $550 at this Duval Animal Hospital). I cut back to just one 16mg of Apoquel in early April and with no results for Heidi, went to see Dr Rojas in Nogales, Az. He took slide specimen of back paws and announced that Heidi has a Staph infection. He prescribed another antibiotic, Cephalexin, 500mg, 2 in AM and 2 in PM for 3 weeks and shampoo every other day with a 2% chlorhexadine/1% ketonozole shampoo. Bought a gallon of this STRATFORD brand and got busy with the program. After 3 days, I think the antibiotics started to show major improvement in Heidi’s paws. Three weeks later, Dr Rojas saw Heidi and said to discontinue shampoo and try cutting the Apoquel to 8 mg per day.Got home and thought about doing more research on her condition. Her private area had turned blackish (hyper pigmentation) as well as under her front arm pits - looking more like elephant skin. There is a common skin yeast infection by the name of Malassezia dermatitis stemming from immune deficiencies (Produced by administering Apoquel). Recommendation is to do the chlorhexadine/ketonozole bath treatments every three days for at least 9 weeks and then tapper down the baths thereafter. And this is the program we are still on right now. And, EUREKA, two weeks ago I cut the Apoquel down to 1-8 mg dose per day with successful outcome. The only time she really tries to itch is hitting the great outdoors first thing in the morning for that potty break. BUT ALL IN ALL, I THINK THIS STRATFORD SHAMPOO HAS BEEN THE LIFE SAVER for Heidi. In another week, if we are still on track, I will try and eliminate the other 8mg daily Apoquel dose. Oh, I also switched her from the fake Hill’s Prescription diet kibbles to Venture Holistic No Grain Rabbit Pumpkin kibbles with Taurine (about $70-$80 for 25lb bag - chewy and amazon)Sorry to make this so long, but I hope it’ll help someone else out there. Heidi has beenmiserable for too long but I think we are on the right road now. GOOD LUCK

Thick, smells good, and works!
We adopted a sweet130 lb. black lab who had been in the county slammer for a long time. He had some really nasty issues with his coat and skin. Lots of shedding, bad smell, crazy dandruff, yeast infections of skin and ears, strange lumps, you name it. Tried several specialty shampoos with modest success, but finally tried this one, which turned out to be the most effective plus the most pleasant. It's texture is just like baby shampoo, not too runny and easy to apply. The scent is actually pleasant, kind of citrusy, but not too strong. No nasty chemical or tarry odor. Put dog in tub (not easy), soaked him, applied this shampoo, left it on as long as he would tolerate, rinsed, and dried him off as well as I could. Coat came out with a beautiful mirror-like shine, and dandruff was considerably alleviated. Did that twice a week for several weeks, longer without dandruff each time, then went to once a week for a couple months, and the condition seemed to go away more each time. The product worked so well, when I re-ordered I ordered it in gallon size. Much more cost-effective. Now I only wash him once in a while when he needs it, using this shampoo. It works on skunk odor, as well. Maybe not a miracle solution for getting skunked, but works as well as anything I've bought for that application. Anyway, his coat is now beautiful, very glossy, no dandruff, no lumps. Shedding what one would expect from any dog. He's still got bald calluses on his elbows, the vet says they will probably not go away, but they don't seem to bother him, and now he is a very handsome fellow with no apparent skin issues. Knock wood!

Works well, and good value if you need to regularly use this
Due to a genetic skin condition, my dog needs to be bathed with this formulation of medicated shampoo every few days. Much more convenient and affordable to get this large container, and it works as well as the similar product I was purchasing in 16 oz bottles. Just a little more challenging to shake well with the large bottle! [I routinely pour some of the large jug's contents into a smaller size bottle for ease of use.]

Immediate results!
My dog is suffering from allergies on his paws and won’t stop licking them. He had a stench that I thought came from his paws (“hot feet” or “corn chips”) but I changed vets and not only she gave him meds but prescribed this shampoo for his coat. It was night and day! The stench went away (regular shampoos were not working) and my dog seemed to have some relief from the body itch as well. The scent is very pleasant too.

Good product
I’m a groomer and I use this for dogs with all sorts of skin issues. It works on some not on others but it’s always my go too. I see a lot of older dogs and this does seem to stop their itching in most cases. It doesn’t smell the best but that’s not what it’s for.

Fantastic for itchy dogs
Our Soft Coated Wheaton itches and itches and itches and licks all the time. Using this stuff once a week has helped immensely. We tried every other type of garbage big brand shampoo's and they would wreck his skin. We take this to the groomer now and they use it instead of their shampoo, it's been great.
