These molten grooves were recorded in Hawaii right on a volcanic crater. Carlos Santana together with drummer/vocalist Buddy Miles and several members of Santana channel Evil Ways; Marbles; Lava; Them Changes , and nearly a half hour of Free Form Funkafide Filth !

Not routine Santana
This is very much a one off, recorded during a time when there were splits in the band about how jazzy or not the music was going to be. Ironically although this is quite jazzy in places,Neal Schon seems to be more into it than Carlos ,who is very restrained (on something maybe). It is nice to hear the full horn section and some great vocals from Buddy Miles, also the atmosphere is good with echoed sounds to emphasise that it was recorded from inside an extinct volcano

Counter Culture's Last Hurrah
Fabulous music from the end of the 'hippy counter-culture' era. Rock music was changing but not before two giants came together to perform live some four years after Woodstock. A thoroughly enjoyable trip down memory lane. Recommended for anyone who appreciates the music of the late 60s counter-culture era.

Sophistication
Put together two men and their guitars and you'd expect something just a bit special. When those two men are at the very pinnacles of their respective genres are Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles then you know you are about to listen to something very special indeed. You most certainly won't be disappointed as the sweet and mellow guitar sounds wash over you.
