Incredible but accessible of scholarly of work

Amazing book. A must for anybody with an interest in Irish history.

The book is HUGE and extremely detailed. I haven't read it yet as it's a present but have flicked through it and it looks amazing. Just a warning, it's big and heavy. Not exactly a lap or bedtime book. But something that everyone in Ireland should have in their home to read and learn about the history of Ireland.One thing though, the packaging it came in wasn't great. Just a thrown together Amazon box with some other items that I'd ordered, with nothing to protect the book. Some of the corners were damaged but I pressed them out as best I could.(Would have been 5 stars if not for the damage)

An incredible body of work with a wealth of maps to illustrated the evolution of a national ideal. The most magnificent work on Ireland for the last 40 years as far as I'm concerned.

An extremely thorough and exceptionally well put together book with a wealth of information on Ireland’s revolutionary history. Lots of maps, photographs and graphics explaining the text which is very accessible and interesting. The printing and presentation is excellent though be warned.. this is a very large and heavy book so not really suited to bedtime reading! This book should be in every household in Ireland. A must for anyone interested in Irish history. Excellent.

This is an amazing book on Ireland's struggle for freedom in the 20th Century, a volume that will inform future generations of Ireland and beyond of the determination and courage of a people that would not bow to the greatest Empire the world had experienced! Tis book should have a treasured place in every Irish home.

Thi is quite a major work, written by a group of historians in an objective manner. They have unearthed many photos from archives in different countries. It is quite a heavyweight tome but surely must be the definitive work on the topic.

This is another success for the Author, Co authors and Cork University Press . A comprehensive history of the Irish Revolution that makes for great reading over time as it is full of facts and information of the period. A great reference source to trawl through time and time again. Also you will need a sturdy bookshelf.
