## Description

With a massive 84mm depth of cut and a powerful 1750w motor you’ll be hard-pressed to push this remarkable circular saw to its limit. Featuring innovative RAGE® technology the RAGE230 will cut Steel, Aluminium and Wood (even wood with nails), using just one blade. The cut is fast and clean through so many materials; when cutting steel there is no burr, no heat (no need for coolant) and very few sparks. Key features include 0-45º bevel tilt for added cutting versatility and an auto debris collection system.

Review: makes cutting the hardest wood easy, plus wood with nails inside. - desertcart HAS NOW PUT THE WRONG PICTURE FOR THE CICULAR SAW FEATURED IN THIS REVIEW, SO BEAR IN MIND THAT ALL OF THE REVIEWS HERE ARE NOT FOR THE "FOR METAL" CHOP SAW PICTURED ABOVE.!!!!! I have several of the Evolution saw tools, so I knew what to expect as regards build quality and overall performance. However, the size and weight of this saw was a surprise once it was out of the box. It is much bigger physically, and heavier than the smaller 185mm model that I also have. I wanted this big saw to go through old fence posts with nails in, with the posts measuring about 3"x4" on occasion. This it does with ease and you don't feel any nails being cut if the blade hits any that are hidden in the wood. The smaller 185mm saw performs the same way, but it will not go through a piece of wood 3" thick in one go, as the depth of cut isn't deep enough. Hence my purchase of this bigger version. I have found the dust collection to be particularly handy for my needs, as I often cut wood in a shed. This means that the dust doesn't get thrown around your shed into all the corners etc., that are then awkward to sweep-up in afterwards. There is some dust thrown downwards by the blade itself, but compared to having it all blasted around the place (like most other saws) it is quite minimal really. The smaller 185mm version has the same feature. This saw comes in a big box of course, but there is no 'carry case' with it, so a plastic box off that other market place is on the cards I think, if I can find one big enough. The cable is of a generous enough length for my needs in a shed and the fence guide to keep the saw cutting in a straight line has two fastening rods too it, instead of the usual 'T' type of guide. I can see how the guide needs to be this strong, due too the general weight and power of this model of saw. There is also a laser beam line fitted, that runs off two AAA batteries (supplied) The laser line is good for 'free hand' cutting, where you cannot use the guide and I have found it to be accurate enough in use. However, it is always best to use a fixed guide of some sort for critical work that needs to be super accurate. There is no sideways torque 'kick' to this saw when it is started, unlike an old B&D plus saw I used to use years ago. I think the modern blades used are better balanced these days. It has been said by another reviewer that the side collection feature is not worth using on a work site. This is probably a good point for that type of use and I can see times when I would be tempted to leave it off as well. It does depend on the amount of cutting you are doing at the time. Also, there isn't a lever of some kind to move the blade safety covering out of the way easily, when putting the blade down into a groove that has been partly cut already. This missing feature is the only thing I have found to be annoying myself, but others may not feel the same way about it. The button to press before pulling the trigger is a good thing though, as my old B&D saw only had the trigger, so I always had to be careful how I picked-up that old saw. My fingers are just fine where they are thankyou, on the end of my arms. This saw also comes with two spare carbon bushes, which fit under the two screw-off caps on the (large) motor housing. This saw makes cutting even the hardest wood an easy job and I have no hesitation in recommending this tool very highly. I have had good wear and tear out of my other Evolution tools to date (without any problems) and I don't see why this saw shouldn't perform in the same efficient manner. It will also cut up too 8mm thick of mild steel, but I think the blade will wear out after cutting about 15-20metres of plate. I only ever use these saws for wood (with nails in) so it should last a number of years. It is big and heavy though, just like most other saws of this size, but you get used too the weight in time.
