High quality reproduction US Glider Badge. Instituted on 22 July 1944, the Glider Badge was issued to US Army personnel who had participated in at least one combat glider mission or who had been attached to an airborne glider unit. The badge was issued to qualifying personnel until 1949 when glider training was phased out. However, the badge was not officially rescinded until 3 May 1961 and was still worn by personnel who had been awarded it. The badge features a stylised glider surrounded by wings, similar to the US Paratrooper Wing Badge. The badge come with two press studs on the back for attachment to uniforms. These are great quality reproduction badges, ideal for US reenactors or collectors.
